Set off in the early hours to see Stones in Austin, and American Airlines cancel the flight! We sit on the tarmac for 2 hours, and then move the flight to 5.30pm, so I have x 2 tickets on Hillside Bleachers for sale! Help face value ! $500 would do it?!

American Airlines have recently been cancelling many flights due to crew shortages but given you were actually onboard and sitting on the tarmac maybe the aircraft had a technical issue.Either way it’s a great shame to miss out on the show.

Explain your situation to the cabin crew on your flight to Charlotte and if the flight is not full they may let you sit up front before landing in order to be first of the aircraft to make your connection.

He is flying American Airlines. They don't care. Company policy to provide bad service to save money. The crew issues are because they encouraged crew to leave after taking billions of dollars from the government to stay ready through pandemic.

My last American Airlines flight was the second to last flight of the day out of DFW that was delayed due to a mechanical issue caused my ground crew incompetency. I tried to switch to the last flight and was told only if I bought a seat at full price. They let the last scheduled flight leave with empty seats. They even refused to list me as a standby on the first flight out at 5:30AM unless I cancelled my reservation on the flight I was on. Word spread they were going to cancel due to a damaged cargo door because a truck hit the door. At the last minute they deemed the plane safe (not repaired) and got us out 4 hours late. NEVER again.

I actually have American returning from FLL next week, but have a back up flight on another airline in case they don't take off.

The Stones are set to play at 8:15PM, appx. an hour earlier than the usual show time — adding another stress isn’t it? You will still have three hours, more or less, at your supposed arrival time on Austin airport before they take the stage, I believe if you move cleverly and efficiently, you can make it to the show.

Your post reminds me of the one I read on the Rhino Cream board in 2005 when their reunion was on top of the hype. This poor guy from Canada was on his way to New York to attend one of their shows at the MSG by bus, only to be stuck somewhere in the middle for hours because of the adverse weather — eventually he had to give up catching the show. I felt sorry for him when I read it.

Use those miles before you lose them. On Delta they never expire. Also, on way home is ok but depending on them to get you to a destination when you need to be there is too risky for my blood. In my case I needed to be at a client at 9AM the next day after a 70 hour work week. Getting home at 3AM was not my plan.

Sure hope guyrachel and son make the gig in time.

I hope he makes it; but come on guys. Don't just say AA sucks. I got millions of miles on several airlines. Things happen with all of them. Unless it was short nonstop flight with lots of options (like LA to Vegas, even then I would take 1st flight of the day) I would **never** book a flight on the same day for an event as huge as the stones, a wedding, sports event, etc.

AA’s web site says the 5:10pm arrival from CLT is early and at the gate. Hopefully guyrachel made the flight and on the move to COTA.

This. If there’s no luggage involved, this is definitely worth a shot, I’ve done this and it works. They may not move your seat, but they’ll ensure you’re off the aircraft before others if you’ve got a connection
