!!!!!

Indeed. Is this why Paul MacCartney is so narked?

( This in response to treacle fingers post re Rolling Stone or Herman's Hermits Magazine)

Hmmm ..... Time for a Herman Hermits thread. Sorry Paul. Herman's the man

You prefer a man who does not do Blues covers.

Statues of Rolling Stones members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards to be unveiled in Dartford High Street

Bronze statues of two members from legendary rock band the Rolling Stones are to set be installed in a Kent town.

The statues - which will be erected in Dartford High Street - will pay tribute to the legendary musicians by capturing them together in mid-performance.
Council leader Jeremy Kite commented: “Many Dartfordians have gone on to change our world, but in terms of culture and music you don’t get much more influential than the Rolling Stones.

"A nearby housing scheme by Bellway London gave us the opportunity to realise a long-held desire to mark these two local icons and the developer agreed to fund the statues as part of its obligations to fund art in the town.

The statues will be created by sculptor Amy Goodman and eventually unveiled at One Bell Corner this year.

"I intend to create two dynamic figures which capture the incredible energy and chemistry the two of them have when performing together on stage, that the public can walk through and around, and interact with."

I quote

"The pair were born and raised in the town, before famously meeting at the local railway station and forming one of the most successful groups in history."

Another insidious rewriting of history.

The wording of these things could be so easily done. "... and went on to be founding members of The Rolling Stones."

Thanks you. Yes. A historically correct wording is easy to do. They could easily add words reflecting that The Glimmer Twins were (are?) central to the band's success and longevity.

But Mr Kite (the Council Leader) is only interested in his own career and not in any accuracy.

(Reminder: When the original plaque was planned, the wrong wording was pointed out to him and he agreed to correct it. He didn't. He broke his word. There was an offer to replace the plaque (at no cost to the Council) but he still did not agree.)
