I always wondered how their largest stage prior to the 89 tour was the 81/82 stage compaires in size to the stages of 89/90, 94/95, 97/98, 02/03, 05/07 and the ones from 13-21. does anyone have the ability to superimpose the 81/82 stages on the later ones. I am not that computer savvy. thanks

Loved the spectacle of Steel Wheels, Voodoo, and Bang. Hated the Licks stage. Really enjoyed the No Filter show I saw at Gillette stadium 2 years ago. I had seats on the cat walk on Keith’s side. For a stadium show it seemed very intimate. They were right there and I wasn’t distracted I just focused on the band. I had great seats for the other tours I mentioned but sometimes I got distracted by the staging spectacle.

I loved the VL stage...[though the big screens have obviously improved in size and picture quality since.]

That cobra could singe your eyebrows at a hundred yards !

No Filter stage is damn cool, I don't miss the old ones

What is there to miss? A lot of scaffolding? The cobra? If you looked away for five seconds you missed it (the flame). The Still Life scene was artistic at least.
I wish they used lighter colors on the stage floor though. For visibility. Now it's all dark.

Funny you say that, i can't grow up and when you get to my age and act like a child it begins to look special needs

Thank God the Stones didn't grow up, I'm convinced they are unaware they are old, no ones brave enough to tell them 80 year olds don't do Stadium Rock hehe.

The 1981 stage wa ugly. The stadium stage looked like a warehouse loading dock

Nostalgia. The best show is the next show. The best stage is the next stage.

I love the current No Filter stage - but my favorite is the Steel Wheel's from 1989. No one had ever seen anything like that before.

I have only attended the modern Stones shows (1989-). Of them, the first three, i.e. stage sets of Steel Wheels, Voodoo Lounge and B2B were all impressive, especially SW and B2B. More or less downhill thereafter for me unfortunately. And then No Filter stage reclaimed my admiration. Four huge projector screens across the back of the stage — simple, economical and effective. Reminded me of the monolith in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, a gigantic version of that mysterious object.

I’ve mentioned in other threads. The Steel Wheels stage took 1.5M watts, over twice as much as any stage ever before (yes, any group or event). Incredible at the time

I like the stage of some shows of 1972 when Jagger came out through the RS tongue, as seen in the CS Blues movie. I think the Voodoo Lounge stage was too metallic and cold, didn't suit the music.
Of course nothing can beat the indoor-stage of 1975 - but it would be silly to have something as extravaganza as that in the later decades
