Steel Wheels, Voodoo, Bridges, Licks, even 1981 had distinctive stages.

Yes, I love the screens, etc, but back then each tour was unique.

The No Filter stage was pretty damn impressive when it first hit. Still is really.

The giant screens and catwalk, which used to be a T-stage elsewhere, and then the B stage last tour, has been fantastic overall I think.

But yeah. bridges, steel wheels, etc all very cool.
Used to love the bridge extending out to the B stage.
Loved the '81 stage.. but no way the boys could cover it all these days

what do we think the chance are for a new stage next year for the 60th

I wish they would add more US dates in 2022. Greedy wish, I know.

The music was better though IMHO. Especially 78. I saw them once in 78 & twice (In 2 days! ) in 81. I count myself lucky because anything 89 & on was a lot more about show biz. Ian Stewart is sorely missed. Keith was much more of a presence on the back up vocals back then which I loved. They were much more raw & stripped down back then.

I hear you, but the No Filter stage is efficient and probably more cost effective than the architectural bohemoths of '89, '94, '97, etc . Especially now they only play a handful of shows a year, it just wouldn't pay to go back to those.

I've seen 'em all going back to 1972 and IMO the NF stage is best for the overall fan experience, especially for big stadium seating. The video technology blows every other prop away and helps maintain the focus on the band and the music. I loved the other set ups as they happened (VL my fave) but looking back, NF wins for overall in-your-face impact.

As much as I love elaborate stage productions, I pretty much like the basic approach of the No Filter stage. Focussing on the music and also high quality video, which is helpful when you're not close to the stage.

Today, I can do without props like inflatable "Honk Tonk Women" and moving stages (those moving stages were great, I also loved "The Bridge", but in the end it's just an expensive gimmick).

True. But the nice thing about the bridge, imo, is when the band started down and when it went back, the audience had a chance to interact with the band, especially Mick. Also they played on it toward the back of the crowd, much like when on the B-stage.

I was not old enough to see it live but from the videos I like the 1975 stage that opened up as they started playingHonky aTonk Women.And Iliked the 1994 Voodoo Lounge. Stage.That was pretty cool. That whole tour beginning with the flatbed truck performance of Brown Sugar in Manhattan was cool

Instead we now got cheap stages AND expensive prices...

The current stage is one of my favorites, they really knocked it out of the park this time, after a few years which looked like they’d run out of ideas in stadiums (Licks, ABB, and ‘14-‘16 were all pretty “meh”).

Seems like prior to the ability to create perfect video images the rest of the stage was the main source of eye candy. I had the pleasure to see 89-97 stages up pretty close, which meant I didn't need the augmentation provided by video screens.

Seeing a No Filter show from farther back made me appreciate the screens, but I do miss the elaborate stages. '89 was easily my favorite.

Previous stages were better and obviously more expensive which doesn't make sense for these short tours. However, I think the current screens are by far the best they have ever had.

What happens when they are finished using a stage? I guess they sell the stage piece by piece and reuse some parts, instead of storing everything in a warehouse?

It was in either Keith Moons or Ronnie’s bio that Moon bought the lotus stage and put it in his back yard Also the No Security stage was sold as pieces soon afterwards
