2021 Tour Plane
Posted by: erbissell ()

EDIT: N650DL is the band plane, same as No Filter 2019. Flight number is DL8916 when the Stones are onboard. https://flightaware.com/live/flight/N650DL

N352NB seems to be chartered for crew the day after each show, which is a normal passenger A319, uses flight numbers DL8917 for the charter flights.

More updates if we find them!

Haven't seen this posted yet, just found on Flightaware. Looks like Nashville touchdown was a little before 3pm today and the plane is doing some other charter work between. Another Delta plane this year, looks like a normal domestic route A319 tail # N342NB that flys under DL8917 for the charter flights. Any pics yet if it has the tongue and lips on it?

It's a regular Delta A319. Flew to Detroit from Nashville and is scheduled for regular delta flights on 6 Oct. and 7 Oct. Check flightradar24.

Wow. Is it still at Metro Detroit? That's 10 miles from me. I'm starting to think that they don't have their Logo on it because usually, by now, the Stones post a pic of it. Pretty sure, since at least 2015, they had a plane with a logo, but I don't think they had just one plane, or a logo, in 2016 for the Ole Tour.

The JFK trip is interesting.. as it appears to leave Pittsburgh for there on Friday, but no record of flight back?

I don't think they care about such things this tour. It has 'contractual obligation' written all over it. I think that it's turning out to be more positive than expected is a nice surprise.

At first I thought it was just 'contractual obligations,' but on Sept. 20th Keith did an Instagram story showing their cars on the road on the way to the Kraft show and written on it was 'And so it begins..' ... which led me to believe that he was excited. He loves touring and performing. Then there's the fact that they want to do London and Europe next year, if they're able to. If they didn't do this tour, I was led to believe that they'd still be forced to do this tour next year in the U.S., and they don't want to do that for their 60th. And, they're certainly hyped up and doing an awesome job. Maybe they didn't want to spend the money on the Logo, or didn't just in case the tour didn't happen. Kind of disappointing that they probably don't have their Logo on the plane and that they keep re-chartering it out. There's just something exciting about a plane with a Stones' Logo on it.

"some charter work in between" is another contradiction of the bubble they claim to be staying in. I don't suppose this plane smells of disinfectant all the time

Should they just buy a plane? Several hotels? A few limos?
C'mon man.. the places they rent are clearly sanitized.. it's the people they have to interact with to be concerned about.

I don't know but I would have figured that chartering the plane for the full duration of the tour would be one of the easy things to do

The cost of doing that would probably require another private show to fund it.
It is much cheaper to hire the aircraft only when you will actually fly in it as opposed to having it sitting on the ground doing nothing between flying days.

I agree it's all about the bottom line but it's ridiculous to put that in terms that imply they barely manage to break even. "They actually don't like to do those private shows but without them there wouldn't be a tour at all because how would they be able to pay for rehearsals?"

DL8916, B757-200.

I would actually bet it's both now that I look at the flight trackers! DL8917 is chartered for the crew a day earlier and 8916 is the corporate configuration internally for the band and families. I had heard they use multiple charters in the past.

I had heard they use multiple charters in the past.

They used Cargo-planes at the same time for the stage-equipment - so Band & families flew via B757 (or B737, B767) and the equipment came via Cargo-B747, e.g. Zürich 2014 - [www.PlanePics.org] .

In 2019 the Stones used a B737 by First Air for the flights Toronto <-> Burl's Creek - [iorr.org] .

Confirmed, DL8916 is the same plane as 2019 tour, tail number N650DL. Which also has other charter flights in between similar to the A319 N342NB.

The A319 (DL8917) can also be a N346NB (e.g. Charlotte -> Pittsburgh, 01-Oct-2021) - [www.Flightradar24.com] , [www.Flightradar24.com] .

Yeah I'd assume for that plane they just get added to the Delta schedule so it wont be the same plane every time like the corporate jet the principals are flying on!

Re: 2021 Tour Plane

Ok. Let me see if I'm understanding this correctly. The actual plane the Stones have been on is N650DL. This plane is flying all over the place, but it stops to pick up the Stones at a prearranged time. When the Stones are on it, it is Flight DL8916. The plane is a BOEING 757-200. Therefore, there is no way their logo is on it like the last few tours and sitting in a hangar waiting for them. The other plane, as mentioned above, is for the crew and has been leaving a day before the Stones' flights. Also, the Stones' plane has 199 seats. Who else is with them besides the band and families and maybe a few friends. Do you think they have that many people flying with them?

Yes. There's Band 1: Mick, Keith, Ronnie (and Charlie if he was still alive). Then there's Band 2: now 8 members (Bernard F., Sasha A., Chuck L., Steve J., Darryl J., Matt C., Tim R., Karl D.). Then the musicians have their backstage-crew, maybe also family-members and/or friends. Then it could be possible that the technical crew with the expensive & fragile stage-equipment (e.g. musical instruments, the LED-panels for the large screens, cameras, recording equipment) flies with Band1+2. The separate A319 (earlier flying) could probably be used for the 'Steelworkers' wich build the stage. All just guesswork. Stones' production director Dale Skjerseth talked in 2018 about 200 crew-members - [iorr.org] .

Re: 2021 Tour Plane
Posted by: Sodacityflyguy ()

Exactly as said before. The 319 is for the crew going in to set up the stage and there are about 75-80 of them on that plane. And it leaves out the day after the show. The 757 is for Band, Families and Management and there are about 50 on that plane and either leaves day after or 2 days after show.
