Howard has absolutely been given a list of "do not discuss topics". This is no longer your Howard of 20 years ago.

No longer the same Howard, agreed. But he absolutely has NOT been given a list of do not discuss topics, and if he was, he would ignore it.

Howard is still very funny. The show has changed but like with the Stones if you are addicted to it you can't stop listening...

I am sure he's still "funny", but I no longer listen because he's no longer hilariously funny. The best days were clearly way back, when he didn't care what he said or who he offended, and coupled with the cast and the incredibly funny bits they used to do (things like, guess who's the jew, comes off the top of my head).

They got too rich, and probably about 30 years ago, they stopped doing bits, completely (meaning Howard, Jackie, Fred) and instead left that part up to the rest of the crew (Richard, Sal) that weren't comedians. They had some funny moments, but mostly it was just dumb humor, not clever like before. Artie Lange was great but once he was gone then I didn't enjoy it nearly as much anymore, i cancelled my service!

Plus that was around the time Howard did his life change, made up w/ all the celebrities he used to do battle with, like Chevy Chase, Rosanne, Regis & Kathy, etc. Yes, more mature, made him a better person I am certain of it ... just made it far less funny to a listener.

I am a late listener to Howard’s show, over the past couple of years, probably as a result of being stuck in the house due to the pandemic. I hear what people say about “early” Stern being the best. But even he admits now that he went too far with some celebs. He later apologized to some, and said some accepted it (the apology), some didn’t. Howard revolutionized radio by signing with Sirius. I listened to his interview with Coldplay last week. It was really good. With Jagger in such a short time frame interview this will be about as much as you can get about the Glimmer Twins and the band and all else in between, in a nano second. You can’t cover 60 years in that time. Mick will have his famous line - “I can’t remember.” Probably the interview will be mostly about the loss of Charlie and this current tour. I’m fine with that. Just hearing stories about Charlie will be great. As Howard has said, he would like more time with Mick. Enjoy it, I’m looking forward to tomorrow!

It's interesting that the interview is at 1pm. They've completely changed Stern's schedule for this one show to accomodate Mick. Stern's live broadcast is normally from 8am until around 11am, and then it's reruns the rest of the day.

With Howard interviewing Mick at 1pm, does that mean he's going to stay on air from 8am until 2pm? Or will the rest of today's show start late as well?

They recently did the same thing time wise, scheduling for Metallica.

It will be a later show than normal, not a continuation from the usual start time.

RMK .... now what the hell does it stand for MICK ... ???
And what's it all about with them troubadours guys not makin it ta Bombay

a) RMK? Please highlight a blind what it stands for?

b) I found this explanation plausible which clari1977 posted here back in 2008:

troubadours were british long-range fighter-bombers (Mosquitoes) flying gruelling missions over the Burmese jungle for the better part of the 2nd WW. Great novel on them is Purple Plain by Bates, was turned into a movie with Gregory Peck, but haven't seen that one. The name Troubadours refers to the sound of the engines you could here long before you could see the plane - strange metaphor, but if you are sitting in the jungle and you only hear the supply/support plane approaching, rather than seeing it, I suppose you could opt for a sensory metaphor... Dunno, if that is the reason or not, but as far as history geeks go, Troubadours in a modern context means fighter-bomber in Burma. Bombay - well, MJ was either weak on the geography bit there (poetic licence) or the reference is to the pilots returning from a tour of duty. Note that this explanation also keeps the chronology of 20th century history intact. Bolshevik revolution 1917 - Blitz 1939-1941 - Burmese jungle 1941-1945 - Kennedy murders 1963, 68.
As they say, though, these are only my two cents on the question...

What do you think?

Yes, but where and in which context was RMK mentioned? It doesn't ring any bell with me at all.

At the end of some releases of 'Child of the Moon' in parentheses.

Howard Stern should be a much better

I always liked Larry King but...I guess he was too old for rock and pop. He doesn't get it. More of a Sinatra fan I guess. That generation.
I don't blame him for that but it is always (mostly at least) better to be interested, or closer to, the subject.

Larry was great, however, this time he should have allowed others to prep him. It was an embarrassing interview...

Nice to hear Mick, but it was a very short interview that revealed little. And they pulled Mick away pretty quick. Mick was open, but Howard didn't have time to ask him much.

Howard was completely star-struck. I’ve never heard him sound so nervous.

Interview is over, a short one but no doubt Mick has loads of time commitments with the tour. It was very good, lots of chat about the early days, the art of songwriting, and of course memories of Charlie.

The interview was good. Howard was a little too nervous. It seems. Mick may have been a little uncomfortable in the beginning but they both relaxed. It sounded like they both had a good time and Mick relaxed and laughed a lot but he would not commit to another interview.....

Never change Howard.

Not even 2 minutes after the interview ends and he's describing in detail how he was jerking it to lesbian porn a few hours before meeting Mick.

No longer the same Howard, agreed. But he absolutely has NOT been given a list of do not discuss topics, and if he was, he would ignore it.

You clearly don't know how much Howard has changed. He absolutely takes Do Not Discuss topics nowadays because thats the only way he's gotten certain people on. Sorry, this isn't an opinion, its just a fact. He had Hillary Clinton on last year and you think he was given carte blanche? Not a chance.

Didn't matter here, he was too nervous to ask anything even slightly untoward.

I'd have to agree...impossible to get Mick on otherwise.

And if Howard 'ignored it' he would probably be sued because he broke the contract, plus, would never get another guest that was slightly 'on the fence' about appearing.
