OT: Unsung heroes of the BBC

What a fascinating read, IMHO, regarding the BBC and musical/other performances from the 1960s onward. One can only wonder what performance gems, once broadcast/taped/filmed, are tucked away in someone's pantry cabinet awaiting discovery. I am sure a number of folks here on IORR watched the shows noted in the article.

Fascinating indeed. So much lost.

In the early 1960's my (older) brother's sister-in-law actually worked at the BBC as a tape librarian and I remember her talking about having to overwrite tapes etc because of the expense - they must have been the Bing Crosby Ampex tapes.

But the BBC does have a full recording of the final TW3!

Yes! A really great read.

I remember all of those programs mentioned in the article. smileys with beer

Nice to know a few great music clips like this still exist.

Always remember Top of the Pops on BBC in the 60's, and Paul Jones with a few mischievous young girls. smiling smiley
