So they did their own interview and distributed it to the different media outlets

No. They were interviewed by Jem Aswad of Variety.

Strange...

Some of the answers aren't only similar - they're verbatim:

Here in Variety, Ronnie says:

“Street Fighting Man” has a new energy. “Midnight Rambler” has a new approach. We thought, “Oh dear, how are we going to do ‘Midnight Rambler’? Because there’s another language of its own in that song. It takes its own course now, and Steve, if anything, is leading the charge: “I’ll tell ya when it’s gonna speed up, I’ll tell ya when it’s gonna be dynamic.” To see Keith say, “Okay, then, you tell me” – it was a really different thing. And Mick’s like, “Yeah, I’ll take that.”

And in the Rolling Stone interview he says:

‘Street Fighting Man’ has a new energy,” he said. “‘Midnight Rambler’ has a new approach. We thought, ‘Oh dear, how are we going to do ‘Midnight Rambler’? Because there’s another language of its own in that song. It takes its own course now, and Steve, if anything, is leading the charge: ‘I’ll tell ya when it’s gonna speed up, I’ll tell ya when its gonna be dynamic.; To see Keith say, ‘Okay, then, you tell me’ – it was a really different thing. And Mick’s like, ‘Yeah, I’ll take that.'”

But they didn't talk to Rolling Stone then? It was posted earlier

Apologies. Variety published the David Fricke interview before Rolling Stone did.

So they weren't interviewed by Jem Aswad then ? This is a tad confusing !

Did Charlie really say "Yeah, five years work, 25 years hanging around.” in 1993 after saying "Yeah, five years work, 20 years hanging around.” in 25x5 in 1989 or is Ronnie making it up ?!

I think Ronnie is just trying to put a good spin on whoever the new guy is, without thinking about who they're replacing. I think he did the same with Darryl. It really doesn't change anything. The Stones will sound different. That's unavoidable. And they don't have much time left. That's inevitable. But they have to put the best face on it. They've never been maudlin, or overly sentimental.

There is indeed.

BUT, most folk will have seen the USA version. Here's the original in which the question is clearly asked by a Brit called David Hepworth (it's from a BBC UK TV special show).

Here's the original..

Quite why it was overdubbed for later release is beyond me..

Thank you very much for posting these great interviews! Very, very interesting! They open there heads and souls. Their words in mind, it will be more easy to understand their nee sound eit Steve Jordan.
But: I miss Charles Robert Watts!

Unlike Ronnie to be so enthusiastic about the new drummer when Charlie has just passed.
A little insensitive perhaps.

I think they are just trying to protect Jordan. They know first-hand what a pressure he has on him. I'm sure they are aware how hard some fans and media go on him for trying to replace Charlie and for the band generally for trying to carry on without him. So they just try to make it more comfortable for Jordan which I appretiate a lot. It's very nice of them to do that.
Thanks for the interview. I love the part where they were reflecting on their very early years. You don't often see them talking about it.

With 13 warhorses + 2 Keith songs, there probably won't be too many surprises.
I think we can expect something like this:

Start Me Up
Tumbling Dice
It's Only Rock'n Roll
Troubles A Comin'
Living In A Ghost Town
19th Nervous Breakdown
Wild Horses
You Can't Always Get What You Want
Paint It Black
Honky Tonk Women
Slipping Away
Before They Make Me Run
Sympathy For The Devil
Miss You
Midnight Rambler
Street Fighting Man
Jumping Jack Flash
Brown Sugar
Gimme Shelter
Satisfaction

17 songs predicted right. Hoping to hear Troubles 'A Comin and Living In The Heart Of Love later on the tour.
