Must say it's very strange not to even know who Kenny Jones is. And have all these opinions on Steve Jordan and drumming. Just sayin'...

Takes the pisss out of any drumming argument really.
Methinks it's not the playing the obviously ignorant young lad has a problem with.

Shame he's been able to clog up the threads with this nonsense.

Not knowing about Kenney Jones is not proof of anything. Faces is really outdated simple music, and most people under 30 have never heard about them.

''Faces is really simple, outdated music's ...... and the Stones??!!!

Kenny J was great - perfect infact - Maybe I'm Amazed live, I Feel So Good, Stay with Me, Poolhall Richard ......

He ( and the Faces played on all Rod'ssolo stuff prior to 1975.

He kicks off Maggy Mae ( after guitar and Mandolin intro .....

They were the rocking outfit in UK in early seventies, while Stones in Exile's and when poppy glam was taking over. ( Slade were good too though - poppy but rocky!

Mick Waller was drumming on a lot of Rod's early solo stuff.

Thanks, right.

The one called I Feel So Good is a live Rock out of 8 mins and more.

with he line, 'I feel so good, I feel like balling the Jag'.....

which is not a reference to Jagger but to a car I think ( Jaguar)

Recorded in the States. Forget where. Fillmore? 1970? Their 'Rambler'.

Quite some band.

And the Faces concert around Christmas time - with Keith on a couple of numbers ( at least). '74 I think.

Not exactly a new topic! but .....

Steve Jordan was chosen with Charlie's blessing for this autumn/fall tour.

An obvious choice and no- one seemed to object.

Then the unexpected happened on 24th August.

A thread to wish Steve luck . Great.

The first show - they are playing ( and praying) for Charlie.

A lot of uncomplimentary comments about the new drum sound in the show-review thread.

Personally I would prefer a different drummer in the long term.
Kenny Jones springs to mind.

But that's not where we are now.

Whether they stick with Steve or not is/will be their decision.

For NOW

Charlie is very hard 'act' to follow. They are doing their best.

On with the Shows.Good health to them.

I've already explained to you on the other thread, Keith has been rehersing with Steve since July, as if at Keith's age he's going to start auditioning other people, Steve is his friend, Mick obviously gets on well with him to.
Look Steve's the drummer now, end of,

By the end of this tour he will be fantastic.

Kenny Jones is an old fart now anyway.

Anyone considered Simon Kirke from Bad Company, also Simon Phillips played with Jagger Live in 88

Probably the only thing that could put an end to the Stones is fans showing criticism towards Steve, and Mick and Keith for continuing without Charlie.

Better to give the Stones a break if you are real fans, cut them some slack, it can't be easy for them or Steve right now, do you really want them to throw in the towel this year.??

Howdy Rock-dropped ....

I was supporting them with current decision and with any future decision they make - and trying to assuage/ neutralize the anti-Steve stuff from another thread.

Are you sure we encountered in another thread?

Longer term I would prefer someone else.
You and others have given good reasons why this is unlikely.

Yes, it's their band. They make the decisions. We can have opinions.
And arseholes.

I have not seen or heard K Jones recently so am not in a position to verify your most erudite opinion of his status.

None of us here can have a problem with age.

Regarding farts, they an essential and unavoidable part of life.

Thanks, honoured to be corrected by a man of such breadth and taste.

And one my second-favourite bandsof the early seventies.

I do remember th BBB ' authorship' but was young ( and foolish) when I first bought the record ( 'Long Player' ) and 'jag' was what I thought I had to make sense of.

Now having trouble with balls and jacks though - a sporting term maybe.

Bowls?

I fully understand where you are coming from and appreciate that you are being supportive, sorry im a bit blunt sometimes.
I just mean that its a bit late in the day for auditions etc.
Plus Steve Jordan could be an asset in finally helping getting the new album finished as he is a respected producer.

Stewart Copeland, Ian Paice, Nick Mason.......
But Charlie suggested around 1988 that the best drummer to play with Keith was Steve Jordan.
And that recomendation is one of his last desires, to keep the band rolling with SJ
A lot of connoisseur around here

Ian Paice???? Of Deep Purple??? He plays like John Bonham. I played two songs with him (me on bass) and he deafened me, it was like standing in front of a 747 at full throttle... Not a fit.
