Just wondering for anyone who's been to stones shows, what bands/artists/songs do they play over the pa before the show?

You mean the quietly played Tracks from the 'Tape' before the opening act hits the stage?

Some have been mentioned here but I cannot find them at the moment.

What a surprisingly pedestrian selection that is. You'd think they'd just play some good reggae or something. Actually, I think that's what I remember them doing when I saw them in 1978.

David Bowie's "Fame" and "Suffragette City" come to mind from 2018, or maybe 2017 as well?

Also, I think that Thin Lizzy's "The Boys Are Back In Town" got played closer to showtime.

They should connect the little stereo that Keith has in his dressing room to the big stadium speakers.

I remember hearing „Tell Me Something Good“ many times before Stones shows. Chaka Khan and Rufus, as I would recall. Might have come from a boombox in Camp X-Ray

Also in 81 was "Take the A Train" as captured on 'Still Life'.

FANFARE FOR THE COMMON MAN - 1975 (Like Take the A Train, I considered it part of the show - not just random music playing over the loudspeakers

I can remember "London Calling" and "La Grange" (more than once) at Hyde Park in 2013.

I remember hearing "The Harder They Come" and Chuck Berry's "School Days" before shows in the past.

Bob Seger came onstage to that at many of his later shows. He also used John Fogerty's "Old Man Down The Road". Props to Bob for having a sense of humor.

I remember St. Paul and the Broken Bones' Call Me being played ahead of the No Filter Shows in Europe. Listening to these songs brings back memories...

I remember the Shuggie Otis tune Strawberry Letter 23 throughout the Licks Tour.

I remember one night in Detroit, just before they hit the stage, the Temptations song "Ball of Confusion" was playing, and I think the only reason I remember that is that it seemed just so perfect. A tune by the Temps for a show in Detroit, the lyrics still resonating, decades after it was recorded, even the line "The Beatles new record's a gas" made sense because they had just released the Anthology collection.

And then there was Melvin Franklin's booming voice, intoning the five words that could easily be the summation of the Stones entire career: "And the band played on .... "

I remember listening Dr. Feelgood's Roxette in San Diego in 2015.

Also during Licks...I think I recall hearing Bob Dylan's Gates of Eden throughout the tour...could have been another early tune though...

edit: Listening now, and 99% sure it was indeed Gates of Eden...or maybe 50% sure...it could have been Queen Jane Approximately....
