The Rolling Stones' tour manager has died following a tragic accident at home. Mick Brigden is said to have died while digging a grave for his family's pet dog.

The Stones' former tour manager was digging the grave at his Santa Rosa home five days ago.

His wife of 34 years Julia Dreyer Brigden confirmed the devastating news to The Press Democrat.

As well as managing the iconic English rock band, Mick also worked with the likes of Van Morrison, Carlos Santana, and Bob Dylan.

He was also the longtime manager of Joe Satriani, who shared a statement following the news of Mick's death.

Publishing a tribute on his website, the star confirmed his manager's death.

The statement read: "It is with tremendous sadness that we confirm the passing of artist manager, and former Bill Graham protégé, Mick Brigden, on September 5."

Continuing the obituary, Joe's tribute read: "It’s been a crazy and wonderful 33 years of rock ‘n’ roll.

"I’ve never worked so hard, played so hard, laughed and cried so hard, made so much music and had so many worldwide adventures, and all with Mick by my side.

"He was the ultimate business mentor,” he continued. “Honest, tough, nurturing, hardworking, respectful, tenacious, insightful, he was all of those things and more," he added.

It went on: "I learned so much about how to be a good person from Mick.

"Throughout his illustrious career he worked with the biggest and the best, but always knew it was important to be kind, be respectful, be cool and do things the right way.

"He was an original, with a wonderful sense of adventure in both his professional and private life. His enthusiasm for life was off the charts," it finished.

Born in Southend-on-Sea, Mick left the UK for Canada when he was 19 to pursue a career as a graphic artist before moving to New York.

While he was there, he met Mountain band’s bassist and co-lead vocalist Felix Pappalardi in the late ’60s and became their road manager.

In 1969, he met his wife Julia and they started working together.

Reflecting on her late husband's illustrious career, Julia said: "He was so organized. That’s why he was so good at his job.

He then met rock concert promoter Bill Graham and started working for him, eventually taking over the management division of Bill Graham Presents.

Mick later joined forces with longtime Sammy Hagar manager, 'Carter', to manage rock group Chickenfoot.

He is survived by his wife, Julia, his son, Jack, step-daughter, Jessica and grandson David Merz.

What Stones tours did he manage? Chickenfoot, Sammy Hagar's "supergroup" that Sammy said would be as big as Zeppelin!

R.I.P. Mr. Brigden. Sounds like a good bloke.

As tragic as this must be for his family and friends, the headline reads like a Monty Python bit, and it’s hard not to think of the Ramones I don’t want to be buried in a pet cemetery lyrics.

Rolling Stones tour manager dies ... This story is going through all the Facebook Stones' groups and Stones' fans are upset thinking that they lost their current tour manager ... even to the point wondering who will be 3rd in the Stones' family to fall. Disgusting reporting playing on peoples' heartstrings after the loss of Charlie. In reality, Mick Brigden "worked on the 1982 European ROLLING STONES tour". He has worked with other bands, but for the last 33 years has been with Joe Santiani. Here's the real story: [www.blabbermouth.net]

You have a lot of anger there...the guy died.

There was a relationship to the stones...it does say "former" stones manager. I guess it could say 'Satriani Tour Manager Dies', and that wouldn't be read by anyone, so ok your right, but seriously, why get so worked up by a true news story?

What's being posted does not say 'former.' Says Stones Tour Manager died. People are upset and saying 2nd loss for this tour. Who's next.

All the stories online are saying Stones tour manager. He worked for Bill Graham and helped out for 2 months on the Stones 82 European tour. I honestly wonder if the Stones would even remember who he was?
