If Rod is talking about reuniting The Faces again, a new Stones' tour announcement must be eminent...

Someone should release this show - they could call it Ronnie’s Last Stand

Faces At The BBC: Complete BBC Concert & Session Recordings 1970-1973 (8CD+BluRay):

[SuperDeluxeEdition.com]

Got my copy last week. This box set imho is for me worth every penny, and for Faces fans you will be extremely happy with your purchase. I haven't even played all 8 CD's yet, but the first 5 have been a revelation. There are many Faces bootlegs of the BBC sessions around, but this set was really well mastered and the sound is of consistently high quality. Great mix, and for me the highlight is being able to hear Ronnie Lanes fat bass lines loud and clear. The Blu-Ray video has excellent video clarity, and the sound is incredible. Yes, the BBC video has been around for years, but NOT in this high quality. All I can say is, play the Blu-Ray loud through the best audio/video set-up you have, and enjoy. The 46 page booklet 11.5"/11.5" is also full of great anecdotes, interviews, and quality photos. All in all, a fist class production. The Blu-Ray is difficult to dislodge from its to tight sleeve. Once you get it out, I found that an extra CD sleeve allows one to just insert it back half way for easier future access. That's the only flaw with this box set. Might it sound better on vinyl? Probably, but the CD sound is really great, and brings important continuity to the sessions, so don't let that stop you from getting this compilation if you are a vinyl junkie.

Gary Kemp and Guy Pratt talk about The Faces reunion on the latest "Rockonteurs" podcast.

Apparently there was some recording done at Abbey Road in January. Matt Clifford was producing. Chrissie Hynde was also there.

Indeed! Glastonbury had some great headliners in the 90's. What's happened?

He's in the legend slot, so not a headliner, but yes, I agree that the headliners are weak now. The Cure were brilliant but since then, nothing that great.

Almost surely meaning a Ronnie Wood guest appearance? I feel Rod usually pulls him in for the big time performance.

Isn't the 'legend slot' the Sunday headliner?

It's the 4pm afternoon slot so all the old-timers can get home in time.

Plenty of better gigs they could have released than Anaheim '73 but I always liked Ronnie Wood's extended solo on this track- very distinctive, kinda loose and off the cuff.

I listened to this Faces live bootleg yesterday and it's awesome!
Ronnie here plays divinely, it almost seems like there are two guitars but it's still him mister Ronnie Wood, but the whole band sounds fantastic! [www.youtube.com]

Superb show and superb playing by Wood! If you want to know why the Stones chose him just listen to this show.

There were two guitars. Jesse Ed Davis was also in the band by then.

I don't think Jesse Ed joined until the Fall tour in '75. I saw one of those shows and he was more or less inaudible...and Ronnie Wood was turned waaaaaay up. Great stuff.

If Ronnie sounds like two guitars...

...it's likely because he could see two fretboards grinning smiley

its not Jesse Ed Davis - he played on the subsequent tour when Stewart also insisted on a string section

But it is a great gig - best post-Ronnie Lane performance I have heard

ROCKING ON! Sir Rod Stewart set to be joined on stage at Glastonbury by legendary rock star

The friends were snapped together celebrating Rod’s 80th birthday last month in Mayfair

IT emerged last week that my fave rock legends The Rolling Stones have shelved plans to tour this summer – but I can reveal that Ronnie Wood will still be hitting the stage.

The guitarist will join pal Sir Rod Stewart on stage at Glastonbury in June.

The Maggie May hitmaker is confirmed for the Sunday afternoon Legends slot and asked his former Faces bandmate Ronnie to be a guest.

A festival source said: “Rod is really excited about his big Worthy Farm gig and wanted to give a nod to the beginning of his career, so thought it would be fitting to bring out Ronnie.

"He knows the pair of them together will be a huge crowd pleaser.”

The old friends were last snapped together celebrating Rod’s 80th birthday last month in Mayfair, London.

Rod confirmed his Pyramid Stage gig on social media last year, writing: “After all these years, I’m proud and ready and more than able to take the stage again to pleasure and titillate my friends at Glastonbury.”

The Rolling Stones and their promoters had not been able to make the dates work for proposed gigs across the UK and Europe.

A source said: "There had been hope the gigs would take place this summer but it’s not worked out.

“And now it’s been shelved. But Mick, Keith and Ronnie love to perform live shows so there’s a hope that the promoters can lock in dates for next year.”

When Rod was announced, I knew Ronnie had to be joining him lol. It'll probably be for 2 or 3 songs, but just seemed too big for him NOT to be joining. He seems to usually do so for Rod's big shows.
