I'm wondering why noone has posted the announcement of the coming new Faces album before: Faces to release new album after more than 50 years

I don't know what anyone else thinks, but my opinion is that over let's say over the last decade plus or so, these guys have squandered so many opportunities to get back together, record, and perform. I have almost lost count of the number of occasions that there's been some gleeful announcement that the Faces are reforming etc, and then .... precisely zilch ! And it has happened again and again. After a while, the old "cry wolf" syndrome kicks in. We, the adoring public, see/hear yet one more such announcement, roll our eyes in despair, and just dismiss it as yet more nonsense.

There were in all fairness a few half hearted attempts to do something "Faces" over the years, but they were just one-offs really. There was the performance at the VINTAGE festival, with Mick Hucknall on vocals, and they also performed at the Royal Albert Hall if memory serves me well. Then there was another effort (this time actually with Rod) at Kenney Jones' Hurtwood Park place, but by that time Ian Maclagan had died.

It just seems to me that for whatever reason(s), and I'm sure there many different reasons - probably all perfectly valid, that the whole business of the mighty FACES reuniting so many years after their heyday is just an unfortunate history of many an opportunity squandered !

It's much the same story with a KINKS reunion. Over the decades there have been so many rumours, and yet .... nada ! Zilch ! Ships unfortunately do sail - never to return, and the KINKS reunion ship has well and truly done so.

Such is life !

I agree with above, I don't think there will ever be a "Faces" reunion. Rod just can't do it, not for the past 20 years or more could he sing like he used to.

I also wonder if there was tension between Rod and Mac, seems like after Mac died Rod was all over a Faces reunion, then again probably just to promote some shclock he was peddling. His lame excuses for missing out on Faces reunions make me think he's just not up for it and doesn't want to embarrass himself anymore.

Rod and Mac weren't the best of friends. Mac made that known on more than one occasion.

Actually I saw Rod in February and his voice was in fine form.

Just heard on the radio that the Faces album is slated for 2026. If there's to be a new Stones album and tour, how do we all see that one playing out? Don't think Rod would tour a new Faces album, he said he's done with Rock and Roll shows...

I saw Rod a few days ago (Thursday 8th May), he's currently on (supposedly) his final tour of rock n' roll shows, the tour is aptly called the ONE LAST TIME tour. He was as good as ever in my opinion, pretty bloody amazing for 80 years old. The voice might be a tad weaker than in years gone by, but he still has it in spades.

I've become very cynical over the years whenever I read/hear about reunions & all that jazz. In the case of the FACES, yes we might get some new songs/a new album, but the notion that we'll see what's left of the FACES (I mean those former members who are still alive - Rod, Ronnie, Kenney) actually out and about performing some shows ? Nah, don't think so. They've squandered so many opportunities over the years to properly reform and tour to some extent, that nowadays - it's all too little and way way too late. It pains me to think so and to say so, but that's nevertheless what my thoughts are on the matter.

I saw Rod in February (been seeing him since 1977) - and , yes, it was a very good show. His voice was fine and the setlist featured a lot of early 70s stuff.

I disregard ANY faces talk since nothing ever comes to fruition.

Indeed, you're absolutely right. Such a shame, but it seems that either they couldn't get it together, or perhaps for some wholly unimaginable reason - they maybe didn't even want to ? God knows !?

If Sir Ambiguity really is winding down his rock n roll career on this One Last Time Tour (and do I trust anything he says about any of this? of course not), it would mean these concerts are his last opportunities to bring Ronnie and Kenney onstage for a last go at a few of the great Faces songs.

Is my hope for this to happen irrational? Of course. But I don't mind hoping a little bit anyway.

Rod loves to play the "I want to play with the Faces" then suddenly has no voice. Never affects his regular tours, just when he starts blabbing about the Faces.

Rod Stewart at 80: Do Ya (Still) Think I’m Sexy?

Q: When you quit, will there be a farewell tour, or will you just walk off into the sunset?

A: I can’t make my mind up, because I’ve got so much more music to do. I’d like to get a big orchestra and play those glorious songs I did from the Great American Songbook.

At the moment, I’m doing a covers album of all the songs I’ve ever wanted to cover—doing it with my band and recording it in my gym. I’m supposed to do a country album, which the record company would like me to do. And we’re working on a Faces album, so that’s three projects that have got to be done.

You know, I just can't picture a post-Faces Rod back on stage with the Faces. He's changed so much.

Rod Stewart Cancels US tour

Sir Rod Stewart has cancelled a run of concerts in the US after having the flu, just weeks before his appearance at the Glastonbury festival later this month.

The 80-year-old singer said he was “devastated” to cancel or reschedule six shows in the US, due to take place over the next eight days.

The dates are part of what Stewart has described as his last “large-scale world tour”.

Stewart is due to play the coveted “legends” slot at the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury on Sunday 29 June. He last appeared at the festival when he headlined in 2002.

In a post on Instagram in the early hours of Saturday, he posted: “I have to cancel and reschedule my next six concerts in June as I continue to recover from the flu.

“So sorry my friends. I’m devastated and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to my fans. I’ll be back on stage and will see you soon.”

Earlier this week, Stewart said he couldn’t perform at two concerts, including one at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, due to the viral illness.

In his latest announcement three gigs at the venue were called off, including one that was rescheduled after a show was cancelled on Monday.

Two dates in California have been moved to mid-September.

Stewart has had a few health setbacks this year. He cancelled three concerts in January after having strep throat and Covid in the space of a few days, and after a concert in May he was seen with a sign around his neck reading: “Sorry. Cannot talk. Having vocal rest.”

Stewart recently announced his appearance at Glastonbury would be alongside his former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood, who is better known for being a member of the the Rolling Stones.

He told That Peter Crouch Podcast he was only due to play for an hour and 15 minutes. “But I’ve asked them: ‘Please, another 15 minutes,’ because I play for over two hours every night and it’s nothing.”

That "headline" is wrong.

Rod cancelled 4 upcoming shows and rescheduled two others. The remaining dates of the tour have not been cancelled.

It's wrong in multiple ways: since when is an ongoing Vegas residency a "tour"? This month's Nevada shows Rod doesn't even list as part of the upcoming tour, which starts July 8 in Raleigh. So far there is no indication that that is threatened.

All these outlets shouting "cancellations of the North American tour" are just clickbaiting people.

The Guardian headline read "Rod Stewart cancels US tour dates with Glastonbury legends slot weeks away".

The link to that article created in the post above omitted most of that headline.

From an interview with Craig McLean, posted June 17:

Glastonbury

“It’s difficult because they only gave me an hour-and-a-quarter slot. So I begged them: can I do another 15 minutes? Because usually I play for two hours. It means that there’s a lot of songs that people love that I won’t be able to play – and I’ve got three guests coming on,” he adds, clarifying that they’re singers (he won’t say who) and that Ronnie Wood, the Rolling Stone who’s his old Faces mate, is also coming on.

“But I’m really looking forward to it. And it is a different gig. It’s like when you’re playing a cup final: you’re trying to treat it like another game. But, of course, it’s not. It’s special.”

So, what can RT readers tuning in at home expect to see? “It’ll be glamorous, it’ll be sexy. Not me – I’m talking about the other members of the group! And we’ve got a little orchestra coming on to play with us. And we may have some bagpipes…”
