'SWEET LITTLE ROCK 'N' ROLLER' - live 1982???

In Bill's book, "Rolling With The Stones' he writes that they occasionally played this Chuck Berry track during the 1982 tour.

See scan from book. Is he mistaken?

Maybe at rehearsals, but not at any shows. Also "Hang Fire" and "She's So Cold" were not only played at some shows, but were in fact part of the standart setlist. "Sweet Little Rock" and "Roller" two songs? Shoddy error!

And the standart setlist has the songs in the wrong order. Jeez! Bill!

He's mixing it up with Chantilly Lace.

Not really, because Chantilly Lace is also listed in the same section.

Yes DP, was just about to correct my own error! Brain not functioning fully when it comes to the Stones after the news last week.

It was done live, I know I have it w/ Ronnie singing, so I am guessing it was New Barbarians, but I'd have to check ... of course Bill did not play w/ them so still seems like a mistake.

Your doubts are totally justified - so many mistakes on just one page make me wonder who actually wrote the book!

I also remember Keith playing it with The Faces.

The New Barbarians did play it at Keith's Oshawa - Blind Benefit shows in 1979.

They opened all their shows with that one, methinks.

Yes, as far as I can recall, it was their standart opening number. But the Faces with Keith Richards version from 1974 tops every NB rendition I've heard so far - and not only because Rod Stewart was the lead singer!

Bill DID play "Sweet Little 16" but later (around 1985) and in private, not onstage...

I'd do a little more research before dismissing Bill's recollections.

Very good of Bill to leave clues that his books aren't infallible.

I love the Rolling Stones.
