An 18 song setlist in Austin seems a bit anticlimactic for what could have/should have been an over-the-top unique concert in a bizarrely unique setting.
Instead it all sort of fizzled out, and seems they're running on fumes at this point. Maybe they're trying/hoping to conserve some energy for the overpriced final show...
Whatever the case, I bet they're happy the end of this tour is in sight. They'll have some time to dig deep to try and figure out what the future holds beyond the horizon...hoping they finish the new album some day.

I think they over-extended themselves a bit with the number of dates--as small as it is. Quantity eventually effected quality. Apparently, less than 10 shows is the way to go. Not sure if it's financially sound to do such a short tour but it's clear that Keith needs it to be a shorter tour so he can deliver consistently.

Not gonna make a huge deal out of it. Who knows? Perhaps Keith is bummed because they're at the end of the tour rather than the start. Some people say he looks like he's ready to go home--maybe. To me it looks like he's sad to have it end.

Yes that is possible. And don't forget that we do not know many internal details about what's has been going on that Mick, Keith and Ron know.

Sure - yes all that needs to be taken into account. Not just what we watch on YouTube recordings. The band has gone through some huge things in the last 6 months. They are at the end of it now and while the music has been an amazing distraction and therapy to get through the hardships up to this point, perhaps the reality of what's hidden underneath the distraction has begun rearing its ugly head recently...They've seemed distracted during the second half of the tour. Can you blame them?

Indeed.

I saw Charlotte and Atlanta - enjoyed both very much and got to see several songs for the 1st time (for me):

Trouble's A-Coming
Ghost Town
She's A Rainbow
19Th Nervous

and Shattered - which I hadn't seen since 1981.

The playing and sound were great (not flawless), but was sure glad I was there.

The local TV reported on that recent Adele

Report edited in a bit of the Oprah interview man they

Then they cut back ta Adele moan singin' dumb like

OH god it pained me deep and this was only a 90 sec TV report ....

At the rate she sells, it'd be more likely that the Stones open for her!

No way, man. Even if there were only Ronnie left and he were in a wheelchair, the Stones name should keep on rolling.

After having read many of the recent posts, and not only this thread, I get the impression that they are old now. Prepare for anything considering further touring.

Regarding quality: could a compromise not be met? The Stones still offer a fantastic night’s entertainment for those in attendance; just don’t revisit the show on tape or YouTube! In other words: whilst they’re still fabulous to watch ‘in the moment’, the performance doesn’t warrant watching back, or at all, for those who were not there.

Yep, over the top. Or tacky. And a whole album about her divorce. Who cares? Pity, she has a great voice. When it holds up. We had a young artist here in Sweden releasing a "divorce album". Or not even that since she wasn't married. Then when asked about her relation in interviews she doesn't reveal much... Why do an album about it in the first place then?

Spot on, Big Al! I rely on the reports of those who were really present at (a) (different) show(s). They convinced me that the Stones are still the hottest live act around. No surprise really, but some think that judging YouTube clips is equivalent to the truth. I enjoyed very many great clips (thanks to all who made them available for us "remote" fans), but ... they are still ... clips.
I look forward to see the Stones live here in Europe !

Roll on. I won't go see them, I've seen the same act since 2002. (1999 being the last great tour). But as long as they want to, and people out there can pay the obscene price, why not? If you go to a present day Stones concert expecting great musicianship, at a high level, if your ears still function, you will be disappointed. This is long past the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World. Rock and Roll itself is long buried. This is about hanging out with some old friends who gave you a lot of great entertainment for many, many years. More than any group or individual ever gave you. They truly are the peoples band.

Adele seems to be some sort of projection canvas for millions of people. It's difficult to see what the big deal is when you're not subscribed to that

Nikkei, listen to her single "Go Easy On Me" on Youtube. She has a very good soul voice. No doubt about it. She isn't just a media hype. That doesn't say I would listen to the whole album or visit a gig...
But I always admit quality when I see it. Doesn't matter which genre.

She's good, no doubt about that. But you know there's more to the phenomenon when there's actual opinion columns arguing she should have stayed chubby for all the people who felt represented by that

I hope they'll know when it's the end, and be able to recognize it when it is. If they want to keep playing and people want to see them play, that's their business. Personally, I think it would be sad to see one of the Stones look like the way Phil Collins looks now. I understand Phil has a financial situation that makes doing shows necessary, so no judgement on him. But I still wouldn't want to see the Stones like that. Johnny Carson said it well: he'd rather people wonder why he retired than wonder why he DIDN'T retire.

Er ... it's just people expressing their opinion, thass'all. Some folk obviously think they're "past it". They obviously don't think they're past it, you obviously don't think they're past it, and for what it's worth - I don't either. But - I guess there's some out there that do think so !

Don't worry about it, ignore it !
