Kid Rock Cancels Shows, Reveals “Half The Band Has F**king Covid”

Kid Rock canceled his weekend concerts at Billy Bob’s in Texas due to half his band having Covid.

The singer announced the news on Thursday (Aug. 26) via his social media, revealing that despite being vaccinated, half of his band has Covid but he does not.

“Billy Bob’s Shows This Weekend… I am pissed,” Kid Rock said in a social media post. ”Over half the band has f**king covid (not me), and before u shit for brains bloggers and media trolls run your mouths, many of them, like me, have been vaccinated. I was gonna come and rock the house anyway, play acoustic, DJ or even just Juggle…. Deez Nutz!! – or at least try to entertain u good folks. But seriously, shit is way out of my hands on this one. I am beyond upset and you real ones know I would never cancel if I absolutely didn’t have too. For this, I am sorry.”

Mr. DDDD -- within IORR, I think this is quite a departure for you to have posted something like this. I would expect it from, say, Hairball. Have you now changed your thoughts as to whether this tour will, or should, happen?

Upcoming Snoop Dogg, Miranda Lambert performances at Coachella Crossroads rescheduled 'out of an abundance of caution'

Amanda Ulrich
August 27, 2021

Upcoming performances at Coachella Crossroads, an outdoor event venue created by the Twenty-Nine Palms Band of Mission Indians, will be rescheduled "out of an abundance of caution," the tribe said in a brief press release Friday.

"We realize this is a disappointment for the many people who have already purchased tickets for several upcoming events, but the recent surge of the Delta variant and rising numbers of COVID-19 cases has prompted this decision," Tribal Chairman Darrell Mike said in a statement.

"We will be announcing new dates and additional acts coming to our exciting new venue in the very near future.”

The postponed acts include a two-day festival on Sept. 17-18 called El Grito, which would have featured Snoop Dogg and other performers, and a Miranda Lambert concert later in the month on Sept. 25, a spokesperson for the tribe confirmed separately.

Coachella Crossroads hosted a Toby Keith show this past May, making it one of the first high-profile concerts billed in the area since the start of the pandemic. The event venue is located next to the tribe's Spotlight 29 Casino in Coachella.

The Yardbirds ( new version) cancelled their tour" to protect their band members from Covid"....

With huge regret, the Yardbirds have to postpone our September 2021 tour of the USA. The safety of the band, the local crews, and all the fans has to be our priority in these times of COVID. We are working to reschedule the shows into April / May / June of 2022 and hope that you will continue to hold your tickets for that time period. We look forward to seeing you then.
Stay safe and be well.

Stevie Nicks cancelled her tour, siting worries about Covid's Delta variant. I bet there will be a lot more in the next 2 weeks. Labor Day is a holiday in the States, picnics, gatherings galour....more super-spreader family fun! And the stupidity continues. Many of the States the Stones are supposed to travel to are " red states". extremely under-vaccinated and with a population of anti-maskers to top it off. Just more crap to worry about!

I live in British Columbia, which now has 87% first vaxxed, and almost 76% double vaxxed.

Delta is surging higher every day. We hit a low of around 20 infections a few months ago and are now at over 800 per day.

If our jurisdiction, with it's pretty high vax rate is getting hit this bad, it doesn't bode well for other jurisdictions. I'd be pretty worried about the fall.

The problem is after about 4-6 months, the effectiveness of the Pfizer vaccine at stopping infection is pretty terrible actually, under 50% at 6 months against Delta. People who were vaxxed in March are already super vulnerable to infection. I got my final dose on 4/20, was fully vaxxed 5/5. US govt says they will do 6 month boosters for all, but that won't be in time for me before the Tampa/Vegas shows I have tickets for. I'm increasingly hesitant to even go. I have to fly and can't get stuck somewhere, testing positive and unable to get on a plane to return home without spreading it further. After Paul Stanley got COVID one week into the KISS tour, I'm pretty sure one of the guys will catch COVID before Tampa/Vegas even happens and it will all go up in smoke anyway.

Yes, look at Kelowna and the whole Okanagan area that you're seeing huge infection rates (relatively speaking). If these numbers keep climbing, we'll easily see over 1000 by early next week. Vancouver Canucks still haven't put tickets on sale yet, I'm sure they'll be 50% capacity.
I look at the Stones and how many crew members they have on their tour, I can easily see one person getting covid which will mean many will have to self isolate.

Message from Neil Young regarding concerts & the pandemic. Neil hits the nail on the head, so to speak:

“Recently I pulled out of Farm Aid for fear that unprotected children may become infected with Covid by folks who went to the show, caught the virus, had no symptoms and returned home to hug their kids or someone else’s kids. I felt that we didn’t know what we were up against and we were endangering others, unprotected innocent children in particular. I know of tours that are out there and have to stop where they are and isolate in motels because one person among them tested positive. I ask myself, why are they out there?
Money and business. These two need each other. This has been the American way for years and years. Now it has turned on the country in a new way.
The big promoters, if they had the awareness, could stop these shows. Without that, everyone just keeps going like everything is OK. It’s not. Live Nation, AEG and the other big promoters could shut this down if they could just forget about making money for a while….. They control much of the entertainment business. They hold the power to stop shows where thousands congregate and spread. It’s money that keeps it going. Money that motivates the spreading. The big promoters are responsible for super spreaders.
These giants of entertainment just renovated a lot of old venues and spent a lot of cash to do that. Now they can’t stop selling tickets to pay for it. Money and business. That doesn’t make this OK. It’s a bad example. Folks see concerts advertised and think it must be OK to go and mingle. It’s not. These are super-spreader events, irresponsible Freedom Fests. We need Freedom to be safe. Not a bad example. This could be just the beginning.”

4,700 People Positive For Covid-19 After Superspreader Music Festival

Superspreader

A British music festival has been linked to almost 5,000 cases of Covid-19, becoming one of the biggest superspreader events in the world this year.
As reported in The Guardian and the BBC, the “Boardmasters” surf and music festival held in Newquay, England between the 11th and 15th of August has since resulted in 4,700 people testing positive for Covid-19, although some experts have estimated the true number of cases linked to the event could be much higher. Around 50,000 people were at the festival and the cases were either in attendees or people otherwise linked to the event, with approximately three-quarters of positive cases in people between the ages of 16 and 21. 800 of the people who tested positive live locally, but the rest travelled to the event and clusters of cases linked to the festival are now being reported all over the country. Masks were encouraged, but not enforced and the festival Covid-19 policy required attendees to present evidence of one of the following before entry: a negative lateral flow test result within 24 hours of entrance, proof of both Covid-19 vaccines or proof of natural immunity via proof of a Covid-19 PCR positive test within 180 days of the event (but not within 10 days). Attendees were also asked to take another lateral flow test during the event and log results on the app and anyone who had a positive test was asked to leave the festival. Over 450 people were reportedly either refused initial entry because they failed to provide this proof, or asked to leave mid-festival.

I like All Points East [www.allpointseastfestival.com] , a relatively new indie/alternative-heavy music festival held in Victoria Park, which offers a quality lineup every year. Having started in 2018, it used to happen on the two consecutive weekends from late May to early June. I attended one full weekend each in 2018 and 2019 (the fest was cancelled last year, obviously).
Reset on one August bank holiday weekend this year from the 27th to the 30th, I was to attend Monday (Foals headlining), just one day this time. However, missus showed a strong concern if I might contract the COVID either in the festival site or on the return train trip to and from London as well as on riding the London Underground. Eventually I had to give it up, selling the ticket on the fan-to-fan ticket selling/buying website.

One hard task for a concert-goer/gig-lover under the current situation is, unless you live on your own, how you manage to protect other members of your family from the possible infection caused by your preferred action. More often than not they are not interested in that sort of activity — for them, that’s “your hobby”. And there is every reason for them to make objections to your attending a gig or a festival you are so looking forward to, for fear that, if you unfortunately turn out to be COVID-positive on your return home, not only you but also they will have to go quarantined, ten days to a fortnight of self-isolation, staying home and not going out etc. The suffering goes beyond yourself.

I do not see how the Rolling Stones can actually fulfill their projected tour.

>People who were vaxxed in March are already super vulnerable to infection.

Probably not "super" vulnerable as some measure of protection remains and it probably especially manifests in way less severe symptoms in the vast majority of cases. Its not like the protection just vanishes at 6 mos plus one day.

Neil Young: “Stop these shows” and “forget about making money for a while”

“The big promoters, if they had the awareness, could stop these shows. Without that, everyone just keeps going like everything is OK. It’s not,” Young said of concerts being held in the coronavirus era, according to a report by Stereogum. “Live Nation, AEG and the other big promoters could shut this down if they could just forget about making money for a while.”

“They hold the power to stop shows where thousands congregate and spread. It’s money that keeps it going. Money that motivates the spreading. The big promoters are responsible for super spreaders,” Young said. He insisted that concert promoters are adding to pandemic era problems by making people “think it must be OK to go and mingle.”

“It’s not,” Young affirmed. “These are super-spreader events, irresponsible Freedom Fests. We need Freedom to be safe. Not a bad example.”

The Rolling Stones will look like greedy fools if they actually complete this coming tour.

They are well on their way to that as it is, even without the covid angle.

they're not idiots. I think they're keenly aware of what's going on, and just threading the needle right now.

There are no prizes for cancelling first, and they'll be criticised if they cancel 'too early' (by some fans standards). I'm giving it to 2 weeks before the first show, so Sep 12. If they don't cancel by then, it's on baby.

Wondering how any band could possibly think it's wise to go out on tour right now in the US:

"The U.S. has continued to experience its steepest rise in COVID-19 related hospitalizations since the winter of 2020,
with more than 101,000 patients hospitalized across the country with COVID-19, as of Thursday.
This marked the highest number of patients hospitalized with the virus in seven months.
Pediatric hospital admissions for children under 18 with COVID-19 were also up by 514% since July Fourth, as of Friday".
