Also number will go down drastically during the warmer months and I am sure there will be a lot less corona than during the US tour. So - let's do it! I am in. Take my money already.

Don't assume that. They could find a new super variant that is vaccine resistent by then, or any number of things. Traveling between various countries presents al kinds of logistical challenges. Europe seems overly lockdown happy anyway, and I don't think there is the drive to get life back to normal like there is in the states.

I'd say right now it's 50/50 on any large concerts happening in continental Europe in 2022. Springsteen hit pause on his European tour announcement. Ozzy postponed his European shows until 2023. As we speak, concerts are being cancelled all across Europe. I think all of these festivals being planned across Europe booking multiple artists are nuts... when you try to plan for MULTIPLE bands, that makes the logistics even more complicated.

beside the fact that I totally agree that is stupid and might result in a logistical nightmare to tour Europe next year I can still see some rationale in booking verious artists for festivals: In case one band drops out they still have some other acts and they might not have to cancel the whole festival

Whatever they do, and if they're even able to do it due to the pandemic, best if they keep it below 14 shows.
Seems they lost most of their wind at the half way point of the US tour and sort of puttered along to the anticlimactic shortened standard setlist finish, and I imagine it's not going to get any easier as they age.
I doubt they want to live in a protected bubble again, so might be easiest and safest for a residency somewhere so they don't have to travel - maybe Royal Albert Hall, or somewhere larger so they can rake in more money.

Concerts in France are all sit-down now, with capacity maximums: 2000 indoors, 5000 outdoors!

Not much different in Germany at the moment. Covid cases have been very high in winter time in Europe, But I expect a rather normal situation in spring/summer time. Also for concerts...
Anyway, it wouldn't be the first time that Stones-concerts are fully seated in Germany

Landgraaf gave permission for a concert on june 12 2022 on the same venue as Pinkpop. Maybe an oudoor show in the Netherlands for the Rolling Stones ? And it sound logical if they don't do Belgium and Luxemburg in 2022.

… most likely not the Stones. As far as I remember Stones shows in recent years were announce just some 8 weeks before they took place. An official announcement in January would mean a show in (late) March. Looking at the current Covid situation in the Netherlands it's not very likely

Yeah, announcement about 3 or even only 2 months out has been the norm for the Stones lately, save maybe for the 2019 US tour which was announced before Thanksgiving the previous year for obvious reasons

For what it's worth, a local rumor here in Finland says the Stones would have a tentative booking at the newly renovated Helsinki Olympic Stadium. I saw that posted in a COVID-related discussion; the issue apparently being that the promoters would have to inform the Stones camp by February whether it's possible (as per the health&safety regulations) to go ahead with a concert.

I live in Helsinki, not far from the stadium, and no, I don't believe that rumor for a second. Logistically, Finland is on an island, it's very easy for a tour to skip Finland altogether and just play where it's easier to haul your gear around. Moreover, even with the renovation, the old Helsinki stadium is not the greatest place out there to put on a show. Ironically enough it would have been cheaper to tear down the old stadium and build from scratch, but the Heritage Agency would not have allowed that!

Hello,

After reading the reports about the shows in this last Leg of No Filter 2021 Tour in the US, I had not the idea that the second half of the Tour was bad, or average, at all.

I attended 9 shows starting with the LA area shows and going through Hollywood,FL. In that run I only missed Detroit. There wasn’t any drop off in the band’s performances as suggested. While I was disappointed in Austin dropping to 18 songs and Hollywood to 17, those shows were each still at least 2 hours long and were as energetic as the earlier ones I saw.

Well, to defend Hairball: Some of Keith's intros were a bit tentative during that tour. And during the last gig Keith sat down on a couple of songs in order to get things right.
And on the last, super expensive ticket wise, gig they were down to 17 songs. 90 percent warhorses. It's not a crime to be critical thinking. Even on a fanboard.

Yeah... the detractors will look for and cite the occasional missed notes or sitting for a few, a negative revue, etc (standard RS tour stuff) as proof.
Laughable..

The resident doom n gloom crowd who predicted such dire straights for the band and this tour have to to clutch at something to try to save face.

Steve Jordan said they were super focused up until the L.A. shows due to the critics and reviews, and after that they didn't worry as much, ie they became sloppier and lazier.
Many of us watched and followed and read all the reviews, and have friends who were at some of those latter tour shows who felt they were clearly in a decline.
A few who were in attendance at the final "special" show were upset and practically felt betrayed at the short/standard/safe setlist, and the fact they spent good money, traveled from afar, etc.
But of course there are those who love every second of every minute of everything the Stones do on (and off) the stage, but not sure what type of reality they're living in.
That said, there should be room for all types of opinions including the good, the bad, and the ugly...imo.

From Dean Goodman, Hard Rock live, Fl. show:

"The good news: Fans now know they can safely ignore any home video release of Tuesday's depressingly truncated tour finale at the Hard Rock Casino.
They’ve heard it all a thousand times. The bad news: it was an expensive lesson for the 7,000 folks who forked out big bucks to act as extras in the Stones' latest heist.
But it's more than the cost. It's the sinking feeling that sets in after about five songs when you realize the Stones just don't care."

People on this board said I was nuts for suggesting there would be no large concerts in Europe this year. It’s already starting. Other acts like Coldplay, GnR and Ed Sheehan will postpone their tours as well. Festivals will be cancelled. We’re actually in a worse spot overall than we were last year. At least last year we had lower numbers and the promise that the vaccine would make things better. We don’t have that anymore.

I think large multinational European stadium tours are a thing of the past. What’s next? Postpone to 2024, out of an abundance of caution? At what point will people cut their losses and stop even trying?

Let me add to what MisterDDDD said: I attended six shows total & I did not notice any sloppiness or slowing down. I'm just happy they are on stage for us to enjoy. A lot was made of kleenix tissues used & Keith sitting down. I think people tend to want to find something they can be critical of. I would rather have the Stones play than not ever seeing them again.

Thank you for your post and for referencing Dean Goodman's comments. Two of my dearest friends saw The Stones three times during the latter stages of the tour, including the final, hugely expensive, performance at The Hard Rock. Their verdict? They were better than expected given the circumstances but were 'nothing special'. And all talk about The Stones being better than ever was, in their opinion, not entirely accurate.

My own view is that Stones fans divide into two broad groups. Those who love everything the band does live. They relish the performance, the spectacle, and the familiarity of those big hits. Then there are those - and I am one - who would like to see some form of evolution. Some new music. Even cover versions. And an opportunity to, once again, enjoy The Stones as CREATORS rather than as greatest hits performers. One of my friends, who has been a fan all his life, dating back over 55 years, said 'Seeing them was too like listening to a Gold Station on the radio'

I am not dismissing or criticising anyone in this comment, just summarising what, for me, seems to be the main dividing line between the different types of fandom. And I am certainly NOT disrespecting anyone whose view differ from my own. But this is a fans forum. All kinds of views, comments, and counter-comments should be welcome.
