Dang - RIP…

The band’s Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard issued a statement:

“We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top’. We will forever be connected to that ‘Blues Shuffle in C.’“

They made some cool songs. The first time I heard them was when La Grange popped up on the airwaves. RIP.

really sad.
A couple of hours ago – before I heard the news – I watched some clips of the ZZ Top shows I've been to and thought to myself that I'd really like to seem them again after the pandemic…

From John Fogerty:

We are devastated to hear about Dusty’s passing. We were so blessed to share the stage with the great Dusty and ZZ Top many times, and if that wasn’t Rock and Roll heaven, I don’t know what is. The show we did together just last week would be his last. So heartbreaking.

Rest In Peace Dusty. Was supposed to see ZZ/ Cheap Trick last April in Abbotsford near Vancouver but that was postponed. They've rescheduled for next year, I see that a guitar tech of the band will fill in.

I think if they needed a replacement, Fred Turner of BTO would fill in nice, especially since he's a bass player. He's got a similar vocal sound, singing lead on BTO songs like Roll On Down The Highway, Four Wheel Drive, Let It Ride.

Every girl crazy bout a sharp dressed man!

That is so sad to hear.

Only seen ZZ Top play once,at Wembley Arena, when Jeff Beck was on stage for a couple of songs.

Very memorable for me, as I got to front of stage so easily, with so many fans just getting me there.

Always remember when I saw the band on TV here, on a live music show in UK for the first time, and I just couldn't believe how good they were.

I just saw. Man, talk about a loss. ZZ Top was one of the few bands who were right up there with the Stones and The Doors for me: I wasn't a fan, I was a die-hard superfan. Researched as much as I could about these guys; "Tush" was one of the first songs I learned on the guitar.
Just listen to how he weaved musically with Billy and Frank: those three men sounded HUGE together.

This is like last year when I heard Eddie Van Halen died.

RIP Dusty, and thank you for all the joy you brought us.

Rythmeen is the most underrated album in the history of music. And I don't mean just rock music; I mean music.

Very sad news. I fell in love with "Eliminator" in my freshman year of college (1984) and still love it to this day. Not to mention many other wonderful songs in the Top catalog.

RIP, Mr Hill.
