RIP the guy and blah-blah-blah but...

...you gotta understand Keith's disarray regarding the state of American Black music : he fed on Muddy, Jimmy Reed, Robert Johnson, the pre-war jazz (Duke and the "A-Train"), the Meters, Don Covay, Bobby Womack...

Then came dudes who'd abuse vinyls and turntables (scratch!), fart with their mouth and talk about guns and bitches. keith certainly felt short-changed and betrayed.

The rap on 'Anybody Seen My Baby' is from Biz Markie's "A One, Two" which is from his 1986 EP - [www.Discogs.com] , [Music.Apple.com] .

I think his issues with it was most songs were built in a computer. While making Cross-eyed Heart, Keith mentioned that he preferred analog, he needed to see "the wheels turning" on the tape, while recording.
While I've softened a bit on rap and hip hop, I just don't care for music that's "manufactured" in a computer with beats and sampling. I play it sparingly on Tidal.

It thought it was cool.

Hell, it was different.

Besides, it doesn't matter. Like it, don't like it - doesn't matter. It was done.
