Utterly brilliant!
It's unfathomable that this has gained dust in a basement for so long.

Other documentaries made from buried treasure like this have surfaced in the recent past, such as Message To Love: The Isle of Wight Festival 1970 (and then the one that followed with the entire set by The Who), the concert segments of the Muhammad Ali/George Foreman film When We Were Kings, Festival Express, the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, and most recently Get Back.
These are all wonderful time capsules. I'm glad I lived long enough to see them!
But Summer of Soul is a really, really good film, not just for the performances themselves, but how it illustrates the big picture and explains the context of the times and how and why these artists mattered.
