Came across this. A synopsis of the 1969 tour. No idea if it's been posted previously. The topic quote is said to be from MJ.

The article lists Jack Nitzsche as playing on the '69 American tour - is that accurate?

isn't this the clip Jagger calls "rubbish" when viewing it/himself later on (I think it was in the "Gimme Shelter" movie)?

I have a knack for getting stuff like this wrong, so be kind.

Of course. We’ve all seen it a million times.

isn't it also the press conference where he drops the news, contrary to any promises made of secrecy until the last minute, that they would be doing a show in SF's Golden Gate Park, news that was news to the mayor of SF and led directly to the cancelling of any such show in the SF city limits and the need to eventually move it out to the "desert" of Livermore and all the mess that occurred that day?

Great job Mick. The karma was building up for its climax that day.

Maybe I got the wrong press conference.

No you're right. It's quite cringey when you put it in context to hear Mick pontificate about how they'd "set an example as to how one should behave in such gatherings"

Martin Short did an awesome parody of Gimme Shelter on SCTV called Gimme Jackie, his character of Jackie Rogers Jr.
Another great parody was when John Candy and Eugene Levy as the Schmenke brothers did The Last Polka.
Remember seeing these back in the early 80s. Haven't checked to see if they're on Youtube.
