In no particular order after the Stones

Stones - Earl's court '76
Stones - Knebworth '76
Stones - Bristol '82
Stones - Dublin, Cardiff, Twickenham - 2018 + Toronto 2019
Stones - Cardiff - 1990

Ian Dury & the blockheads - Hammersmith Odeon 12.8.1979
Bob Dylan - Blackbushe - 1978
Peter Tosh - Cardiff - 1978
Frank Zappa & The Tubes - Knebworth 1978
Lou Reed - Hammersmith Odeon April 1992
The Who - Swansea 1976
New Barbarians - Knebworth - 11.8.1979 - Led Zep headlined here but a bit dry for my liking, much preferred Ian Dury the next day in London.

Biggest regret at not seeing...............Humble Pie

I was lucky to see them twice (both after Frampton left unfortunately). First time in 1973 at MSG in NYC (Black Oak Arkansas opened up). Second time in 1976 at Nassau Coliseum on LI. What a voice Steve had...

I'm dead jealous...........but great for you, yes, fantastic voice.....

My first ever vinyl albums were GHS and Rockin' the Fillmore bought on the same day in 1973 - I still play them regularly to this day..........In fact..........

Bit off topic, but I see the Bears have purchased a large chunk of property outside of Chicago with the possible thoughts of building a new stadium. Would suck to see them move out of Soldier Field but they could use a bigger stadium. 61000 is the smallest in the NFL.

Regardless, Bear Down Chicago Bears!

DGA,
The Bears placed a bid for Arlington Park from what I saw in the news this week.
I'd hate to see the Bears go suburban.
Would that mean the Stones would go suburban? Or, play Wrigley? Is that thought too future-focused for the Stones? Will the Stones ever return to Chicago?

Either way, I'm a lifer for Da Bears.

I would also have to say Rolling Stones 81 at Candlestick Park, SF, was a very memorable show. J Geils Band, G Thorogood & Delaware Destroyers, and the Stones, what a great show and it was sold out but everyone pretty much stayed in their seats and the field in front of the stage was amazingly walkable. Had such a great day that I came back next morning to get a ticket however I could. That day was fun too but I think Saturday's show beat it. I think its the only big scale show I have been to where I actually enjoyed myself pretty much every minute of both days.

I'm sure they would still play Soldier Field. If the Bears do build a new stadium, it wouldn't be ready for several more years.
I live near Vancouver but have always been a Blackhawks fan and a Bears fan. Lost interest in the Bulls after Jordan quit. Got to see them twice in the nineties when they were in town playing the Grizzlies.
I still remember back in the late 70s, perhaps 77 when Led Zep was scheduled to play at Chicago Stadium and the Hawks were in the playoffs against the New York Islanders. Hawks had to play their home game at Nassau Coliseum in NY since Zep already had Stadium booked.

Wow. That's extremely disappointing. That would be two NFL teams that don't play in the cities they're named after that play in towns with the same name.

Van Morrison - Montreux 1990: the concert of the century!! (I have seen him about ten times, and he was always great but this concert was the classic). It is available in perfect quality on a bootleg and on YouTube but the video which was shot there is still unreleased

Mumford and Sons - Paris, Theatre Trianon: an intimate concert, they were world-class

Bob Dylan (& Eric Clapton) - Nuernberg 1978: most memorable for the event as being Dylan's first big concert in Germany

Rolling Stones - Munich 10 June 1982: Nobody can imagine today how legendary they were back then, and they were good!

A honorary mention goes to Randy Newman - Stuttgart 1983: an intimate solo concert which impressed me very much

and to Rod Stewart - Stuttgart 1986: a great show with artistic power

Saw Led Zep about half dozen times in London area in the 70's, and although buzzin' from the gigs for ages afterwards, their music faded for me as the years went by.

On the other hand saw The Who in the London area in the 70's , about four times in the Keith Moon era . Fantastic gigs all of them, and since then also seen them another four times at Royal Albert Hall, and also more recently two gigs at Kingston Pryzm February 2019.

I still get a buzz from every Who gig, as I do with The Stones, and that will last forever. smileys with beer

Off the top of my head, won't mention the 6 Stones shows:

Van Halen - 1981 Vancouver. 3 Oakland videos were recorded a couple weeks after
Springsteen -1984 Vancouver Born In The USA tour
Van Halen 1984 Van. Last Canadian show with original band
Scorpions/Iron Maiden/Girlschool - 1982 Van. 3 great young metal bands
Judas Priest 1982 Vancouver - first arena headlining tour
AC/DC 1983 Van - opening night Flick of the Switch tour
Deep Purple 1985 Van - Perfect Strangers reunion, getting to see Blackmore/Paice
Def Leppard 1988 Van. Hysteria tour, in the round, great show
Mellencamp 1988 Van. peak of his popularity on Lonesome Jubilee tour
U2 1992 Van. Achtung Baby tour, night Clinton was elected President
Keith R.1993 Van. Orpheum Theatre an awesome show.
Aerosmith/Skid Row 1990 Van great show
Elton/Billy Joel 2001 Van - great double bill
McCartney 2012/2016/2019 Van. - from never seeing him to 3 times in 8 years!
Springsteen 2012 - night after McCartney show
Alice Cooper 2012 - 2 weeks before McCartney - row 2 Queen E Theatre Orianthi on guitar
Van Halen 2007 - great to see Ed and DLR together again.
Aerosmith/Joan Jett 2010- Joan is awesome
KISS 2019 opening night of their "current" farewell tour, great visual spectacle
The Who 2015 - cleanest sounding show I've heard at Rogers Arena in Van.
PINK 2018, 2019 - Van. Don't know many of her songs but amazing in concert. Would definitely pay to see her again.
Iron Maiden 2019 Van. Legacy of the Beast tour so lots of hits.

We’ve been to a few of the same shows!
That Who gig in 2015 was amazing, I thought the sound was brilliant also. I hadn’t seen the who indoors prior, it had always been outdoors and the sound that night was just excellent. I was at the 2012 & 2016 McCartney gigs, the 2012 Springsteen gig (if you saw a drunk blonde asleep during this gig, I was the guy beside her, and it was most definitely she who wanted to go) and the Iron Maiden gig in 2019 also.

I hadn’t seen Iron Maiden in 10 years and I couldn’t believe Bruce’s voice is still as good as it is. I’d seen them a lot between 1993-2009 but skipped the last few tours, so got a pleasant surprise. Sound was excellent also.

As much as I have loved (mostly) the majority of Stones shows I have been to, if I had to pick the single best concert I have seen, that distinction would have to go to my first Bruce Springsteen show in 9/84 in Buffalo, NY. Simply a life changing event. I walked out of that concert physically and emotionally drained. I became an instant convert and finally realized what the fuss was all about.

Maiden always puts on a good show. When I saw them in 82 opening for Scorpions, I got their autographs earlier. They were doing an autograph session at Kelly's record store on Granville Mall so I got my Number of the Beast album autographed! Yes, Bruce's voice still sounds great. I don't care for the third guitarist they have, Jens. I know he took over when Adrian quit and I believe it was Adrian that wanted to keep him in the band when he rejoined. They played Van in 83 with Saxon and Fastway opening, that was another great show.

My top 30+ gigs (in chronological order)

Eric Clapton - Osaka, 22 October, 1975

Echo & the Bunnymen - Osaka, 16 January, 1984
The Cure - Osaka, 15 October, 1984
Prince & The Revolution, Osaka, 6 September, 1986
Peter Hammill - Kyoto, 27 October, 1986
New Order - Osaka, 29 January, 1987
Eurythmics - Osaka, 13 March, 1987
Mick Jagger - Osaka, 15, 16, 18 and 28 March, 1988
The Georgia Satellites, Osaka, ? February, 1989
Lou Reed - Osaka, 7 August, 1992
The Rolling Stones - Tokyo, 14 March and Osaka, 20 and 21 March, 1998
Elvis Costello & Steve Nieve - Osaka, 18 December, 1999
At the Drive-in - Summer Sonic Osaka, 5 August, 2000
Bob Dylan - Osaka, 6 March, 2001
Paul McCartney - Osaka, 17 and 18 November, 2002
Prince - Osaka, 28 November, 2002
Arcade Fire - Summer Sonic Osaka, 14 August, 2005
Paul McCartney - Liverpool, 20 December, 2011
St. Vincent - Summer Sonic Osaka, 19 August, 2012
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Manchester, 30 October, 2013
The Rolling Stones - Tokyo, 6 March, 2014
Dave Matthews Band - Manchester, 10 November, 2015
David Gray - Wexford (Ireland), 23 July, 2017

If I pick only one out of the above, it would be Eric Clapton, Osaka, 1 December, 1979 — not only the single best show of more than one hundred times I have caught Eric live, but also the greatest gig of all time in my life to this day. Eric and the band were inspired 100%, the musicians’ interaction onstage with each other almost on a telepathic level. The performance was way, way above the one heard on Just One Night, the double live album recorded on and selected from the next two consecutive nights (contrary to the title as well as the popular belief), the 3rd and 4th at the Budokan in Tokyo. Just one night indeed.

Prince small unannounced clubshow in Copenhagen 2011 - he was there to have fun!

Stones in Roskilde festival 2014 - Mick Taylor and the longest Midnight Rambler ever and Bobby's last gig :-(

Michael Jackson in Copenhagen 1998 on his birthday - he got a big surprise and got very playful.

After I posted all of my fave live gigs over the years, completely forgot about this one of Kylie, one hot summer day in 2014, a lunchtime gig at BBC Maida Vale Studios.

Free draw for tickets and only knew I got lucky the night before with an e-mail.

Only 75 pairs of tickets and a few more BBC staff etc.

Great gig and she was on stage for about hour and a half. smileys with beer
