Got loads of live videos I've taken over the years, but not many on youtube etc.

Off the top of my head it's gotta be the four Stones gigs in Brazil 2016 in Rio, Sao Paulo and Porto Alegre.

Starting beginning of February when I arrived in Rio, to second week in March, when I went back to U.K.

Met so many Stones fans again, and also more new friends from South America and all over the world, for the first time.

The two gigs at The Point in Dublin in September 2003 were also highlights, as the great fans from Ireland got me to the rail a metre or two from Keith, as they were taller than me and I could almost shake hands with Keith at times,but I knew he was busy doing what he does best.

Off the top of my head, the last show in Brazil 2016 at Porto Alegre as it was so differant with the pouring rain, and Ruby Tuesday live as well.

Mick Keith,Ronnie and Sasha got really ,really damp out there, but what a great gig.
Myself and English buddy Paul Boyd, were still drinking and eating with our South American friends ,Cristiano,Marcello and many more, till gone 5a.m.in the morning.
The rain just came down even more after the gig and we were all soaking wet by the time we got to the restaurant,and eventually got back to our hotel about 6a.m.

A really great night with so many Rolling Stones fans.

So many shows at the Keystone family of clubs in the bay area, cannot even remember them all.

The original (English) beat at the Century Theatre on Market St SF, normally a strip joint and porn flick palace.

The Who and Iron Butterfly at Memorial Auditorium Sacramento in about 68

The Cure also at Memorial Auditorium some many years later.

Prince Aftershow London 2007, the concert of my life. Started at 2.30 in the night and went on till 5.30 in the morning. Unbelievable, I still have goosebumps all over thinking back. There have been maybe 200-300 people and I was standing right next to him and Marceo, he was nothing but a genius..
I have seen hundreds of concerts over the last 40 years but nothing comes close.

Funny you bring that up, Strike, I was just about to play this Prince afterparty record I got some time back. Looking forward to it especially with your comments in mind.

VOODOO tour? No. Stones by numbers boring.

Some bands play all their hits on occasions like these. Dan brought out the more obscure stuff. Brilliant!

The five that really stand out in my mind, either because of the greatness of the performances, or just because I remember having had a really good time are:

Pink Floyd at Yankee Stadium (1994)
Rolling Stones at Pontiac Silverdome (1997)
Jimmy Page and Robert Plant at The Palace of Auburn Hills (1998)
Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood in Columbus, Ohio (2009)

There's a bunch of others that I remember fondly, either for personal reasons (like getting to play a kazoo solo at an Ian Anderson solo concert) or because I witnessed something rare and unusual (like seeing 3 members of The Velvet Underground performing together), but the five I listed above are always the ones that come to mind when I think of the "best" concerts I've ever been to.

The Beatles Dodger Stadium 1966. Only because it was the Beatles.

Cream and Deep Purple, LA Forum 1968

Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull, San Bernardino 1969. Recently found a bootleg.

Newport ‘69, Northridge, California. A 3-day festival. I remember seeing Jimi Hendrix, Booker T & The MG’s, Johnny Winter, Tull, Creedence, Three Dog Night, Chambers Brothers, and many more. Lots of fun.

Rolling Stones play in a different league. For purely sentimental reasons, even their worst concert is still better than the best of the rest.

On my book, Milano 2003 is by far the wildest Stones concert experience I've had!


As for the others, I've been lucky to see a huge number of wonderful concerts. Maily in Milano.

Huge Crowes fan and huge Marc Ford fan. Was lucky to get to see them in this special place in NY. Simply great. And they covered Torn and Frayed!!


John Williams - Teatro Dal Verme Milano 2003

John Williams was into African music at the time. Remember one song in particular. A sort of Maggot Brain with African percussions. Up there with the best performances I've ever witnessed!


MAnu Chao - Università Statale Milano 2001

Improvisated gig. A short acoustic set played for a very small audience. I've been a fan of MAnu Chao ever since!

Iggy Pop - Alacatraz Milano 1999

Encores lasted more than the concert itself. Over 1 hour of Iggy Pop / Stooges greatest hits. More or less 800 people in the room. Most of them were dancing on the stage during the enocres!

To date, the loudest concert I've ever been to!

Aleksandar Serdar - Conservatorio 1999

Young pianist from Serbia. Last minute replacement of a big name that had to play that night.
Usually in these cases most of the crowd leave the house after the first set.
No early exits this time!

One of the longest standing ovations I've seen tributed to a rookie!



Andy Summers - Scimmie 1998

I am a huge fan of the police and andy summers in particular. Just imagine seeing him in a small place, maybe not more than 20 people in the house!

Second time I saw the cult live. First time was not impressed. This time they had a second guitartist to help, and they delivered!!
