Don't tell anything past 1976? Ok then...most of my favorite, and revelatory performances are after that date

Best Midnight Ramblers (IMHO):

1. Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out! MSG New York 11/28/1969 2nd Show

2. London Roundhouse performance 3/14/1971

3. Brussels, Belgium 10/17/1973 (on steroids)

I would say there's objectively better versions in the years following but you seem to feel strongly about it so whatever floats yer boat

Besides I know only half of it so I just might be in for a revelation?

Hard to beat and agreed, the only difference for me is that I would rank The London Roundhouse version as # 1.

Your'e absolutely right! A very special version that captures the band as close to it's roots that they'll ever get. Non polished stadium rock, just pure gritty Keith, Charlie, MT, Bill and Jagger bluesthumbs up

I think it was cool as the opening song at Enmore Theatre 2003, would love to see a vault release of this show:

There are many good versions, but the MSG version on Get Yer Ya Ya's Out! is from a different planet ... perfect.

Towards the end of Mick Taylor’s second tenure with the band, “Midnight Rambler” had grown to 14-15 minute sprawling versions that were a lot of fun to see. It’s a real shame that the “copyright owners” have blocked most of them. I’ve got a nice video of Taylor’s last performance in Auckland at the end of the tour, but they blocked it. Do any of them compare to Brussels? No, but they are fun to watch.

Considering the overdubbing on Ya Yas, I'm surprised they left Bill's clinkers in there.

I don't have a favorite, but I would say it's my favorite live number of theirs. It's never rote, the one time in the concert they jam a bit, not concerned with being perfect. You can feel a jolt go through the crowd when Midnight Rambler starts. No matter what era of the band you speak of, it's the one song that retains its mystique.

version from Welcome To New York is short sharp and to the point so to speak.

The versions during the 75/76 tour, particularly on LA Friday Deluxe (two versions). It is necessary for a perfect performance that the guitars are prominent and just jump in your face, so to speak. Get Your Ya Ya's is brilliant insofar, too. The Vegas-era versions lack punch and are sometimes a bit lame.

I think all the guitar clinkers are still there as well. The only guitar overdubbing was Keith's rhythm guitar tracks on Carol and Little Queenie. And I doubt he replaced Taylor's tracks because of mistakes - more likely to get a more grooving rhythm.

I always enjoyed Ramblers from Hyde Park69 for its rawness, Brussels73 is my favorite and Rotterdam73 for making me deaf at the time

Hard to pick and thank god I don't need to. For me a special one was Roskilde 2014. The longest one ever and with Mick Taylor on, and Mick on fire in front of a young and new crowd

So much of that show is a disappointment basically because the guitars are out of tune! Midnight rambler included!

Of recent ones, the Havana version is nice.

True. I wonder why they didn't bother to get them in tune: guitar tuners were not available yet.

Keith was high as a kite. Also, it was the first show with guitars in different tunings, capos etc.
