I think in the early days there was fanzine talk of being various sized rocks (based on how big a fan you were), you were a pebble, on up to a boulder, etc., but that clearly didn't stick....unless it was never a thing and was just rumor buzz? I seem to remember the boys were asked about it on an interview CD I've got somewhere.

When I was growing up in my neighborhood, anybody that was a serious Stones fan was referred to as a "Stones Freak" which I think fit.

However, in commemorating (and tying in) this years 50th anniversary of arguably one of the most iconic and unique corporate logos of the 20th century (that is just as recognizable as Coke, McDonalds, and Nike),

I hereby dub the new nickname for Stones fans as "Tonguesters" (LOL) embodying that rebellious spirit of this famous logo:

I'm pretty sure that the first Glimmer Gathering was at Bill's Sticky Fingers in London, probably in 1993. (Needs double checking).

thanks for bring that up sighunt i remember reading a piece of press or an article from the 70's that while refrencing the nicknames of various bands fans said that stones fans are reffered to as stones freaks and i've always liked that one as a stones fan and proud freak
