I'm looking for your help and thought this could be a fun thread. I'd like us to make a list of everything and anything that is Blues in anyway connected with the Rolling Stones!

I'd like to make a Blues project of Rolling Stones recordings and solo works, I'd like your help in making a complete list of these Blues songs from anywhere and everywhere; official Stones albums, live, solo works, b-sides, DVDs (Blu-ray, VHS, YouTube, etc,,,) bonus tracks, TV specials, guest appearances, etc...

I'd also like to include the best live versions of Rolling Stones songs and each and every significantly different version. Maybe a Blues song was played differently from one tour compared to another? Live and studio of the same song would be different also.

One of my favorites is I got the Blues from Sticky Fingers and the best killer B3 Solo by the late great Billy Preston .

Fancy Man Blues and Black Limousine, the way they turn around the beat in Brixton 95 during Black Limo is just pure nirvana...

Agree with Dandy about the ultimate cover, Hoodoo is in a league of its own.

There's a 9 disc set somewhere here called BLUES BY BLUES that is the same concept I think.

Considering recordings of blues songs narrows it down a lot. Out of studio cover versions made by the Stones as a group I like Love in Vain, I'm a King Bee and Hoodoo Blues the best whereas out of live cover versions I like You Gotta Move from Love you Live the best. Out of their own compositions, I really like Parachute Woman, Hide your love (semi blues ) and Black Limousine.

The guest appearances by MJ, KR and RW on Mannish Boy with Muddy W at the Checkerboard Lounge is great.

Stop Breaking Down on Exile is the best Stones' blues album cover. Also great is Cant be Satisfied, Prodigal Son and Little Red Rooster . Mick Tylor's solo on the Ladies and Gentlemen Ft Worth performance of Love In Vain is the greatest blues song solo I have ever heard

To me Mick Taylor is the best blues player the Stones ever had so no need to elaborate on the subjet as far as I am concerned: All live-recordings bluesy songs with Taylor.

No, not seriously. Within the Rolling Stones Brian was no phoney either when it comes to slide guitar though. Unfortunately Jones got off the rails a bit more.

Oooh my goodness, exilestones. Virtually every Rolling Stones Blues song (slow or up tempo) is good, very good or great, be it on record or live. Just for fun some "odd" ones ... Melody, only because Mick improvised in Shepherds Bush with "in the microwave", when he found out he was ahead of everybody with his text. Great! I also thoroughly enjoyed Back of My Hand in Boston,(2005), with Keith, Ronnie and Mick on guitar. And off course Parachute Woman, but here I'm very biased, because (2002 Boston, Orpheum) it took me by surprise (but then again, not really ). What a gift that was . And how about Long long while? ... and not odd at all, Little Red Rooster, Brian's masterpiece. I stop here, because too many songs are now flashing through my head.

Shake your Hips... especially since I have a soft spot for anything Slim Harpo! And yes, even though they did others by Slim, this is by far my fave!

I have to say my favorite solo stuff and “outside the Stones” stuff is always with Taylor. He plays some incredible stuff on the Gerry Groom album and the John McVie album. Not to mention all the Bluesbreakers contributions.

Some of his live shows were absolutely incendiary; the Little Red Rooster concert for instance. I like to think it’s his personal tribute to Hendrix. The Little Feet stuff is great. Many more I can’t recall at the moment.
