I think Keith ought to collaborate with the Edge on some new music.I would love to hear how their guitars would mesh on songs

Ronnie worked a lot with him on Slide On This, with great results. Not sure if he's a good match with Keith, though.

Keith did play w/ U2, Love Rescue Me, live:

I think this live version was officially released too, as a b-side.

Keith talks in terms of using silence as a canvas and how what he does not play can be of bigger importance than the notes he plays. What I know about Edge, his thing seems to be creating a root chord backdrop throughout his tracks using delay and reverb. I'm pretty sure they'd disagree on very basic premises.

Hard to imagine Keith cutting edge now ...
although...

Sometimes I think this talk about pauses and the notes you don't play is an excuse for sloppiness and inability. I mean, how many notes can you leave out and still make sense?

This sounds like an awful idea.

There are too many other guitarists who would fit better working with Keith.

Wow, I don't think you understand the music of The Rolling Stones, at all.

Well if you want Keef to play with someone just call up Mick Taylor!

Now where did I recently read a piece talking about the functional similarities between Keith and the Edge?

I think it was in a bitter criticism of the Grohl/Jags tune.

Don't Keith and Ronnie both play on "Silver and Gold" by U2?

How does one answer a rude remark like that without being rude in return? Maybe the best thing is to let it slide?

You’re comments are ridiculous. The Edge ain’t no Danny Partridge. He’s a unique, great guitarist.I think his style could fit Keith .Okay, let’s wait for another boring retread with the usual susp like Sara Dash and Neville. Maybe Jerry Lee Lewis too

"The Edge" must be the corniest name in the world of music

Image and names aside, if they jelled as musicians, I don't see why not. I would just prefer they don't get that Bono guy for vocals. Or, maybe, it might work. It beats getting nothing.

There is absolutely no space (silence) in Keith's playing of Start Me Up apparently, right Stoneage?

In Stoneage's defense, I think he has a point. There is leaving out notes for a sense of drama or otherwise to punctuate a song or riff, but at some point if you start leaning on that it just becomes an excuse to be sloppy or goof off (not to look at you, Ronnie). And sometimes I have to wonder when enough is too much. Its a lot like the guitar players equivalent to a singer who keeps telling the audience to fill in his singing, or leaves out words at inappropriate times in the song (not to look at you, Mick).

That might be correct, but not 100%. I remember reading a story about Bono and this song w/ the Keith connection though. They were somewhere together (maybe related to the live Love Rescue Me) and Bono said Keith was playing some new jams, and then turned and asked Bono what he has been working on. Bono said he was embarrassed because he didn't have anything, and later that night he wrote Silver & Gold -- so maybe he did get Keith to play on it?

Nothing against The Edge, but Keith working with him is a horrible idea... similar to Mick and Grohl...

What about Keith Partridge possibly instead of Danny Partridge? Or beter yet the little sister with the tambourine. Your suggestion is just as idiotical as mine.
