Lol...yes...saw that movie when I was about six yrs. old around the time it was released, and loved it,
but that little dude was creepy as hell.... sort of a spooky blend of Phil Spector meets latter day Michael Jackson....

Mick was in Peru when, from what it seems, that scene was filmed in Italy in early 1981.

It looks like Mick, yes, but the nose is not his.

I am checking on some of the Bond sites I follow.

Not the Swiss Alps. Italian Dolomites (Cortina d'Ampezzo, where the 1956 Winter Olympics were held).

It is Mick to my eyes . I have watched this movie more times than I can count and before today I didn't think so . Today I have changed my mind as I have watched that 4 second clip over and over again .

My Bond sources say not a chance it's Mick.

I guess that's the real tell.. clearly 40 years available to the Bond base, who've combed through every cameo, every film mistake etc., etc., etc would have caught it.

Be funny if it took a Stones fan to unearth it though. Still in the "Stranger things have happened" file for me, while realizing its not likely.
Mick's doppelgänger, at least at the time, though.

In the context of this scene it makes sense.
What I was saying before:

the reason Bond/Moore is looking that way is because his fellow spy stops talking, he acts overly mysterious and careful because, he is afraid they will be overheard by someone who just passed them, but Bond thinks that is crazy, because they are surrounded by tourists who don't realy care about what they are talking about.

For what it's worth, Keith's nose also seemed to have changed drastically around c '76/'77, maybe '78-ish...not only in shape, but also in it's enlarged size.

Yup, according to several books a speaker loosened and fell down on him while he was "passed out" after a binge.

Mick's hair was shorter in 1980.

Nothing anywhere has ever suggested he was in Italy when the movie was being filmed.

The shorter hair style came later.



From late 1980-early '81, there's no way without his passport in hand to really tell if he vacationed or travelled there on a random day.

Good memory Taylor1. The FYEO filming dates: 15 September 1980 - 13 February 1981, potentially finds Mick scratching his acting itch with Fitzcarraldo in the ballpark of that time.

Interesting story about the filming of Fitzcarraldo, with a documentary about it titled "Burden of Dreams" released in '82, before the reworked version.
Be curious to see the footage of Mick and Jason Robards from it.

Les Blank's "Burden of Dreams" is a behind-the-scenes documentary about the troubled production history of "Fitzcarraldo," an ambitious movie project by German director Werner Herzog.

The current version shows marked improvement over the production Blank prepared for a television premiere on PBS earlier this year. The complete "Burden of Dreams" accounts for Herzog's vicissitudes from the beginning, when his first camp in the Peruvian jungle was burned down by hostile Indians in December 1979, through the abandonment of the original production two years later because of illness to Jason Robards. The Robards episode, brushed off quickly in the TV cut, is even illustrated in the expanded "Burden" by a sequence from the abandoned project. This setback also cost Herzog the services of Mick Jagger, who couldn't afford to stick around indefinitely.
The clip looks intriguing, not only because of the novelty of Robards and Jagger acting together (they appear at the top of a bell tower while happily sozzled) but also because it suggests a jauntier movie than Herzog probably wound up with after falling back on Klaus Kinski as his leading man.

Without having seen "Fitzcarraldo," it's difficult to assess the value of "Burden of Dreams." Since virtually every movie made is subject to frustrating delays, miscalculations and production problems, one needs the finished film to put the backstage chronicle in proper perspective. In all likelihood the Herzog glimpsed working and pontificating in "Burden" is operating more or less normally -- for him. Given the mysterious, serendipitous aspects of the medium, it's conceivable that the finished film might vindicate his stubborn dedication to a risky, maddening project.
