Mick cameo in old Bond movie
Posted by: Stoneswolf ()
Date: April 18, 2021 18:54

Due to the corona closings in Germany I started to watch all the old (silly) James Bond movies with my son. Much to my surprise my attention was raised with that scene:
[youtu.be] is this really a cameo with Mick in "For Your Eyes Only"?

Huh, sure looks like him though. Could be, they sometimes do funny things in movies.

Sure looks like him. Mick is one of the only men on the planet who has has more Pussy Galore than James Bond.

Looks like Mick, and the guy on the right looks like a bit Phil Spector ...ha...or maybe a younger Vladimir Putin when he had more hair...
Was looking up credits on the imbd.com site, and there's also an actor named John Wyman....could be a distant relative of Bill....

Really close but I don't think it's him. But weird that Roger Moore has a lingering look at him...so maybe?

Yeah.. the lingering look Moore gives him and the close proximity the passerby (Mick?) has, leaves me leaning towards yes.. good eye Stoneswolf.

An uncredited cameo by Mick? Sure looks like it winking smiley

Sorry, sure they are great, but last time I saw them about 35 years ago I was around 10 and I took them much more serious in that time smileys with beer

If the long-haired guy walking by is Jagger, then James Bond actor must be Connery...

They would never have had some nobody walk in front of them unless it was a teaser. That is unequivocally Mick in Jan/Feb 1981 whenever they did the filming Italy

Exactly this.. now the question becomes whether it was planned or unscripted winking smiley

Tough one... Think it's pretty safe to say he wasn't contracted and flown in just for this scene. He just happened to be on the same location. He either took chances and they left it in because it looked so cool or someone from the film crew had the idea and it was scripted spontaneously.

Yeah.. figured it had to be an "in the area" shot, but I would guess just based on the looks from Moore and the other actor it was a surprise to them,
also how close he is wouldn't be likely planned either.

A lot of unlikely cameos in Bond flicks I'm learning, but unable to find any other references to this.

That is most certainly Mick. He’s even wearing the same style of jacket he wore on the 1981 tour.Plus he has the exact haircut and profile

He wore that winter jacket on the 81 tour?

YES! But not Sean Connery, Neil Connery, his younger brother.

It's not Mick, cause the guy in that video is a mouth breather

After seeing again, looks younger than Mick compared to pic Irix posted above, but I still think it might be him.
Regarding the other various Bond cameos (some credited, and some uncredited), there was Richard Branson uncredited in Casino Royale as one example.

I remember seeing quite a few brief cameos in the Austin Powers movies which are spoofs of Bond and other similar movies, but I think all were credited.
Maybe they wanted to carry on the tradition of the Bond cameos, so looked it up on wiki, and found this for the Austin Powers Goldmember movie:

Tom Cruise as Himself as Austin Powers
Danny DeVito as Himself as Mini-Me
Gwyneth Paltrow as Herself as Dixie Normous
Kevin Spacey as Himself as Dr. Evil
Steven Spielberg as Himself
Quincy Jones as Himself
John Travolta as Himself as Goldmember
Britney Spears (During the opening credits) as a Fembot posing as herself (During the "Boys" music video) and (During the end credits) as herself talking with Mini-Me
Ozzy Osbourne as Himself
Sharon Osbourne as Herself
Kelly Osbourne as Herself
Jack Osbourne as Himself
Willie Nelson as Himself
Burt Bacharach (During the end credits) as Himself
Nathan Lane as Mysterious Disco Man
Spencer Kayden as Jenny
Katie Couric as Georgia State Prison guard

- Goldmember

If it is him, it would be the best kept secret among Bond fans/filmmakers/etc.

Never heard a word of this before in all of the interviews or commentaries. Far stranger stuff has come to light over the years.

I'm voting no.

Indeed.. while the film was released in '81, think it may be likely to have been shot in '80. Either way.. dead ringer if it's not.

I imagine there's a similar rabid fan base for Bond films just as there are for Star Trek - the nerdy ones aka Trekkies who have conventions, and know every single detail of every single episode, movie, spinoff, etc.
Surely the Bond fans would know if Mick makes a cameo appearance, yet after a quick google search the only trace of a mention leads right back to the short youtube clip posted above.
It sure looks like Mick, or at least a younger version of Mick, but don't think I'd be willing to bet on it actually being him.

The credits list The Swiss Alps as the location the skiing shots were filmed.
Anyone know if that locale was likely for Mick in 80/81?

*Long shot.. and this scene could be filmed elsewhere.. but??

Nothing is unscripted in Bond films, if you watch the extensive "Making Ofs" on each movie, you get a sense pretty early on that detail is everything in an EON Production

I mean it's been nearly 40 years since the movie was released, you'd kinda think we knew by now?

Confirmed, Mick Jagger walks by James Bond....

I am a huge James Bond fan, what the Stones are to me in terms of music, Bond is to me in terms of film.
But I have never ever heard that anyone was saying that Jagger has a cameo in For Your Eyes Only.

By the way... the reason Bond/Moore is looking that way is because his fellow spy stops talking, because he is afraid they will be overheard by someone who just passed them, but Bond thinks that is crazy, because they are surrounded by tourists who don't realy care about what they are talking about.
