I listed them because Pretty Ballerina always made me stop in my tracks. (Like Desperado on Seinfeld). Of course I loved the bands you and others listed, but the Left Banke had an entirely different sound.

It's hard to say. The great thing about AM radio in those days was that, theoretically, every band (including The Rolling Stones) could be an AM Top 40 band. On 77 WABC in New York, there was no telling what you might hear. You might hear "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" or you might hear "Whole Lotta Love." Incidentally, those were the #3 and #4 songs on the Billboard Top 40 chart for January 31, 1970.

That's exactly what made this period of music the best off all time.
