I just have a bleary VHS tape from back in the day, probably fourth gen copy of the movie being screened in Berzerkley, hand held camera style. But boy I used to love it back in the day. To me it is a document of the excitement and boredom of actually being on tour going from city to city. It could have used with more live on stage film of course, and complete performances, but it fits that it is chaotic just like being there would be.
If you or anyone has any hints about where to get a good dvd, I am all ears. Honestly have not seen the film in twenty years but would love to. I am also pretty sure it will never come out officially, but stranger things have happened I suppose.

This movie exists as a torrent in a massive 7.3 GB size. So must be a very clear edition?

I also see two smaller sizes. No-- I have not downloaded it. Never saw it.

The Stones are older. They're grandpas. Mick doesn't sing certain songs on stage the way they were written. There's no way a movie like C*cksucker Blues would be greenlit by Mick and the others. Unless the naughty bits were edited out but then it wouldn't be the same movie.

It's not so much unvarnished as it is staged.
The scene where Keith and Bobby drop a TV off the hotel balcony is just dumb and their forced laughter afterwards is joyless.
Hey, they were really sticking it to the man in that scene. Dig those decadent rock stars.

It's not a good movie by most metrics, but it has some interesting stuff in it that's worth seeing from time to time. It can give you a visceral experience of what it's like being on the road. The first time I watched it, which is probably the only time I've seen it all the way through, I remember just being sick and tired of watching them carrying on. That's probably what it would be like if you were a hanger on, following them around on tour.

Yes parts of it are staged. Thats movie making. Regardless, its a great portrait of the time, warts and all. It leaves you with icky fingers and thats appropriate. Or at least it was back when having fun was ok. I personally enjoyed them chucking the TV out the window. Thats how the party started back then. You know its a good party when the ambulance shows up. Or the fire truck.

Well - seeing as WAP (Wet A** Pu**y) won a Grammy or whatever - and that idiot got to interview Biden when no one else can - why can't Mick & Keith put out "C.S. Blues" ? - that' how it' been labelled on bootleg VHS tapes since the 80's - it doesn't seem anything is offensive anymore -

I got it on vhs about 10yrs. ago or so. I think parts of it interesting to say the least. some funny stuff. do I think it will ever be released? no. I think they would have by now. shocking stuff? not to me. lol.

In typical Stones fashion, they will release it at some point with a couple letters blocked out of the title someway. They'll get some free pub because every reporter on the planet with a stick up their butt will say something sanctimonious like, "We can't say on our network what the title is to the new release by those bad boys of rock and roll...."

The reason why it won't get a full release (parts of it are officially released) is that it is (mostly) slow and boring. Even though there are some 'shocking' scenes, it shows too well that the rock'n'roll life might be more boring than the myth tells us.

You used to be able to rent a copy of the full film at the long-gone & somewhat legendary Kim's video in the East Village.. Interesting place that carried some underground and unofficial stuff, that's how I discovered people like Nick Zedd, and finally saw CS. You could even bring them a copy of your own film and they'd put it on the shelf, production value be damned.
