'take the mick' means to 'mock someone' or 'have a laugh at someone's expense'

'Thick' here meaning 'stupid'

Yes, but he is also referring to himself.

You think? I'd imagine it's just for rhyming purposes.

Dave Stewart,Matt Clifford,Dave Grohl. For the last quarter of a century,Mick has been collaborating more with other mut than Keith in writing music. What’s left has been the live shows. It’s still great seeing the band live but they have been basically ban an oldies act for a quarter of a century

The current Rolling Stones as a tribute act (band) to the older versions of the Rolling Stones

One or another of the interviews indicated MJ was wanting to convey a sense of optimism here. I can hear it in the lyrics but I think I also feel it in the music.

Found an article about that subject:

[flypaper.soundfly.com]

So there’s that.

Plus Rolling Foos.

I love Jagger and I'm a glass half full type of person but this is awful.

Really really bad......

I bet Keith is laughing, or maybe crying.

Fair and honest review, and while he generally seems to sort of like it ("I don't love it though"), he goes on to say:

"I think the song would have had a bit more swagger to it had Keith Ronnie, and Charlie played on it".

"Dave is certainly up to the task of backing this rock legend, but it's still a fairly by the numbers performance.
That's also how I might describe the lyrics actually. Very by the numbers. It feels like Mick wrote a first draft of the song, and called it a day".
-

Hard to disagree with either of those points he makes. I still think it's better than Getta Grip/England Lost, but pales in comparison to Ghost Town.
The sooner the Stones can get back together in the studio and finish/release a tune, the better, but something tells me Keith might be lining something up on his own first.

LIAGT is alright, but I don't ever find myself going, "you know what I need to listen to right now, and I mean, RIGHT NOW? Living In A Ghost Town...that's right, you heard me!".

This new track on the other hand an unqualified THIS RECORD SHOULD BE PLAYED LOUD!

Sorry, but this is weak.

"Living in a ghost town" is great, great, great.

We need more Stones, not this shit.

Lucky for you you don't need to listen to it.

So far it's only a YouTube release. To my knowledge it's not available anywhere else.

Easy Sleazy .... is just what this song is....a good formulaic rock song, not a classic but few are.

Age is not kind....compare these lyrics with, say, 19th Nervous Breakdown and the creativity is miles apart.

Nothing to do with age imo..

Comparing it to a more similar style song from the boys catalogue would be more fair, unless 40 is similarly ancient to you,

Well now we're respected in society
We don't worry about the things that we used to be
We're talking heroin with the president
Well it's a problem, sir, but it can't be bent
Uh yes!
Well now you're a pillar of society
You don't worry about the things that you used to be
You're a rag-trade girl, you're the queen of porn
You're the easiest lay on the White House lawn
Get out of my life, don't come back
Get out of my life, don't come back
She's so respectable
She's so respectable
She's so delectable
She's so respectable
Get out of my life
Don't take my wife
Don't come back
Get out of my life
Don't take my wife
Don't come back
What I say!
She's so respectable
She's so respectable
She's so respectable
She's so respectable
Get out of my life
Don't take my wife…

You know, it's only rock n roll and I like it.
Lyrics are funnier than most of their recent, i.e., last ... decades, works.

Bullshit review, as usual from people who tend to over-analyze music all too much (of course it could have been better with a Mick Taylor guitar or extended Brian Jones sitar solo!).

Damn, late to the party, just catching up now!

I'm a huge Grohl fan -- especially Nirvana and definitely Foo ... and I like this collab w/ Mick! Played it only once so far, but I'll definitely be adding it to the playlist!

Wow, so many negative Nancies around here, you'd think that the singer of your favorite band releasing a surprise song that rocks your socks off with a guy that's got rock cred and that gets kudos from the press and most everyone out there could only be received warmly and positively, but no ! Just prefer to feel miserable, eh ?

In other (?) news, here's a reminder that Mick will be holding a (virtual ?) press conference tomorrow at 11AM "from" the Velodrome in Marseille for Exhibitionnism, let's hope a journo asks him about the song !

I don't prefer to feel miserable - that's why I won't listen to it again!

It's tosh. That isn't negative. Far more positive things to do or listen to.

Cheers.

Ha! Mick Jagger out there punking: banging and yelling as a sign of rebellion and revolution. I think it's working surprisingly well at his age! This song makes him 50 years younger. If you think you're too old for rock 'n roll then you probably are. What an energy.

The poor production is obviously 'home-made' (hey this is nice spielerei, would be surprised to see it commercially released ) but suits the style.

But the song rocks! In your face Covid. I love it - hell yeah.

Interviewer: How does that even happen though? Under what circumstances does Mick Jagger talk to anti-vaxxers?

Ugh. This is what's wrong with media and people in general. Like the reporter can't imagine that Mick would speak to somebody who doesn't want to get a vaccine. Mick's an intelligent, social person. I'm sure he talks to people with all kinds of beliefs.

Quite a bit of speculation that there will be another "roaring twenties" type era post pandemic, with many predicting some form of a sexual revolution. Was obvious by the lyrics, and with Mick confirming that aspect in one of the interviews, it will be interesting to see if that proves to be the case. winking smiley

EVERYTHING’S GONNA GET REALLY FREAKY
ALRIGHT ON THE NIGHT

ITS GONNA BE A GARDEN OF EARTHLY DELIGHTS
EASY SLEAZY ITS GONNA BE SMOOTH AND GREASY
YEAH EASY BELIEVE ME

WERE ALL HEADED BACK TO PARADISE

====================================
SECOND ‘ROARING 20S’ LIKELY TO TAKE PLACE AFTER THE PANDEMIC, PREDICTS ACADEMIC
"As in the Roaring 20s, which followed the 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic, society will revert to an era of indulgence, with Dr Christakis predicting that there will be a surge in “sexual licentiousness as well as a “reverse of religiosity.”
