"I Can't See No One Else" is a prototype of "One Hit" so that won't work.

Here's what I've got for a 10 song LP, add back Harlem Shuffle after Eliza for a an 11 track LP. First single "One Hit" !

"Dirty Work" as released in 1986 is my favorite album by the band. So, no, the above suggestions won't do it for me.

Victor Hugo instead of Too Rude and it's a 10 outta 10 for me. I've never understood the slagging off of this album, it ain't Exile but it's an angry little gem.

I might be the only one on the planet who thinks so, but I think "Winning Ugly" could have been better if they'd worked it a bit more, produced a better sound for the bass, changed the backing vocals and gave it a thicker, more "70's" sound. The song itself has potential, it's just produced very badly.
For the rest I agree with what you want to throw out, and I'd throw out "Fight" too.

Sounds like you need to listen to the "London Version" of "Winning Ugly" I mentioned above, a huge improvement over the album version, if a bit long ;-)

I like the Motown vibe of "Winning Ugly". I also like "Too Rude".

BTZ is the most sterile, anti-Exile thing the Stones have ever put out. It sucks musically and lyrically.

Winning Ugly is beyond redemption!

I like it a lot. Even Back to zero.

The best thing about DW is the last half minute with the Ian Stewart tribute.

Dirty Work is underrated. It's like people only remember the synth bass on Winning Ugly, Chuck's synth on Back To Zero and the drum sound on Hold Back.

Apart from those horrible things it's a belter of an album (come to think of it, Ronnie’s drumming is also dubious).

I absolutely love Winning Ugly. Good tune, great guitar work committed vocal good lyric. What’s not to like?????

Totally agree Bakersfield; the most spontaneous and creative thing they had done for ages. Those guitars and that bass line.

The only track I could do without is Fight; but that slashing rhythm guitar of Keith's has more vital gusto than he'd come up with for a long long tme ( or long long while)

The album has a live feel and is a great tonic after the overworked previous album.

Apart from Too Rude, I agree with you on that list. It's not an album I play too often, but when I do, I'm always surprised how good it is. And as somebody pointed out, the "London mix" of Winning Ugly is far better - but also, too long.

I've said it before. Replace Hold back with Deep Love and Too Rude with Strictly Memphis and you have' a really solid album. I cannot understand how so many contributors here slag it and praise Undercover which was a phoned-in mess, packed with insipid filler like 'Too Tough' with its pallid guitars and by-numbers arrangement and 'All the Way Down' which the Faces would have rejected as B Si, the trite like 'Wanna Told You' and the forgettable 'Pretty Beat Up'.
Dirty Work was a major return to form, alive with engaged vocals, thrilling guitars and good songs. That's how it was received at the time. if only they'd included Deep Love and Strictly Memphis it could have been truly great. I can only imagine that both were casualties of the bitter feud between the Glimmer Twins.

I'll leave the last word to Keith Richards, in an interview with Mat Snow for NME on the release of Dirty Work:

Snow: 'Your last album (Undercover) was dull, it didn't happen at all

Richards: No, it didn't

Undercover is a fine album,it has some fillers of course,so what...
But...DW is simply horrible.
Something Nickleback would have been proud of...

The sound...one could say it's a product of the time,
but it's almost always a strange forced toughness which
I don't like...Jaggers barking mirroring this impression to me.
And the Lillywhite production doesn't help at all.
I gave it a short spin track by track...impossible to sit through this crap.
Majority,minority...I don't care about,I will never return listening to
this album ever again...don't get me wrong,if anyone likes it,fine...
That's just me...feel free to enjoy...

It's better but the bass is still too sterile and thin.
The synthesizer is still annoying. It's still too "80s".
But I still like the idea of the song: the melody, the bridge, and the idea of the bass line. Some of the guitar licks are cool too.
A pity that it ended up sounding so bloody "80s". But maybe it comes down to that, some people like that sound. Me, I profoundly detest that decade.

Yep that's the one, a bit too much synthesizer but more pleasant to listen to overall. With a "Strictly Memphis" type of arrangement it would be a lot better for sure and there must be earlier demos too...

I can´t see no one else - has nothing to do with One hit (to the body) as far as I´m concerned. To me it´s just one of those fast Keith-songs: Wanna hold you, Can´t be seen and Heartstopper - or even Connection. But One hit? There´s no similarity at all.

Dirty Work was a chance to redeem themselves after the horrible Undercover album. (Too bad such a great song as Undercover of the Night has to be associated with such a nowhere album).

Dirty has a couple great songs, One Hit, and Harlem Shuffle. (A Wyman tour de force). I think Winning Ugly has great lyrics but needed more work. Mick and Keith just didn't seem that interested in working closely at the time.
