These songs are out there in stereo, although not all of them have an official release, there are many more songs the Stones recorded in stereo but have never been released officially or unofficially.
Would I be right in thinking that Aftermath had the first true Stereo release? I know some of the earlier London LP’s were graced with ‘electronically reprocessed’ versions, but as far as I’m aware, the first two Decca LP’s were mono, only: The Rolling Stones and the Rolling Stones No.2
I do wonder if stereo was a luxury afforded to only those U.K. acts who recorded at Abbey Road: both the Beatles and The Hollies had a dedicated stereo mix and release of their debut long-player, for example.
Regarding my Abbey Road pint: obviously, artists and acts recording in the U.S. we’re having their recordings mixed in stereo at this time. I’m really referring to U.K. studios.
