The Stones DJing at a danish radio station in 1970
Date: March 19, 2021 18:50

I had never heard this, pretty interesting.

Great selection of songs and I'm amazed at how knowledgeable they were about all those artists, especially the blues guys from 1920's. It was probably not very easy to find information about those guys in the late 60s, early 70s.

Keith seems to be a music encyclopedia.

Mick: Keith, how old is Tracks of My Tears by Smokey Robinson? 5 years old?
Keith: Tracks of My Tears? 64-65.

Great stuff. Maybe they heard stories from the blues artists they encountered in those early days. Howlin' Wolf, Muddy, the whole up from Mississippi Chicago gang. They idolized Jimmy Reed but I don't remember a story on whether they actually ever met him. He didn't pass until 1976. I doubt there were many books on the blues at that point. What a fascinating time, to be with Brian, a blues fanatic, and to discover these obscure artists in of all places, England. Then to meet many of them, and help some find a new audience.

Is it at this occasion that Mick lauded bootlegging and bootleg vinyls?
(provided they were not too expensive).

That was another occasion.

Do you have a date or a year?
I think it's from 70 or 71 and it was said on an European radio. It logically comes after "Live'r".

Absolutely love that the Stones included a 20 years old Stevie Wonder in their must-listen list on the programm and Jagger said some really beautiful words about him. I think the Stones role in introducing Stevie to European audience is higly overlooked.
