That’s outstanding, capturing the band at the top of their game. What raw power! I don’t think there’s anyone on stage other than the core 5 plus Bobby.

What a find and thanks for sharing !

Cool. I hope there's more out there. I can watch them do Midnight Rambler at just about any point in there live career. It's the one number that is slightly different each time, and they spread out a little more.

Superb stuff. Unusual for someone to have a video camera at a gig back then compared to now. These days we are used to super sharp images from modern camera phones and cameras, but I like the grainy quality here which adds so much to the atmosphere. I guess it's like the vinyl v CD argument....

The live performances clips fromCSBlues are incredible.I wonder what happened to the full performances. And the Dick Cavett show filmed at least part of one of the NYC shows.Maybe somewhere there is more than just Brown Sugar and Street Fighting Man

Has anyone confirmed its real footage from that show?

I get the audio in stereo as I read the description and damn if its not cool as hell. But call me cynical as there is a tidal wave of recent finds lately that just seem too good to be true thats all. T

It almost looks like it was filmed off a monitor screen except for the position of the photographer in the audience

I love the sound of those @#$%& Ampegs. The Stones at their peak imo.

Thank you. Very enjoyable 13 minutes. Nothing ever sounded as good as when the Rolling Stones turned their backs to the audience. Jamming with Edward indeed.

Jamming, not hamming.

And it gives a lie to all the 'Mick Taylor only played lead and spors' stuff.

He was holding down a very steady rhythm throughout most of rambler.
And he's damn good at it an d totally focused.

And on Bitch of course, but he's hardly audible - someone else is playing very loud lead all the way through! It 's a total disgrace.

It is interesting that on the 50 and Counting Shows he played the first solo which he didn’t on the 1972 tour

I don't know what's going on with this footage, but I synced up the available video with the soundboard source last year and posted it in the b/s/t section:

[iorr.org]

This version looks like someone cropped the original video and added some pretty bad colour filters, and it doesn't look like the video/audio is in proper sync, especially in Midnight Rambler. My version is in perfect sync, and includes two brief clips of Tumbling Dice and Gimme Shelter.

As for the provenance of the video footage itself, it is from the 07/22/72 Pittsburgh show. I'm not sure if it was shot for screen projection, but it's not Super8/8mm film, it's 1/2 open-reel video tape (still heavy as hell to lug to a concert though, haha).
