Here’s my top 20. I’m absolutely loving this 20 track album. This really is the best Stones album since Exile. I haven’t enjoyed a Stones record this much in, what? 40 years?
Also, it has made me realize how difficult it really is to create a classic album. There’s a great deal of luck involved. I mean, think about it; record execs, A&R men, producers and band members all having a say in let’s work on this song instead of that one, or let’s try this direction here, or any number of things. Exile, for example, is so great because of all the variety of music, yet I’ve read on here that some people think it would be better as a single disc album or they don’t like Sweet Black Angel or I Just Want To See His Face, but that’s all part of what makes it so great. And now, with these 50 tracks, all of us have a different top 20. Kind of shows how difficult it really is to put an album together.
Anyway, here’s my new Stones album:

Trouble’s a Coming
Dreams to Remember
Eliza Upchink
Deep Love
Putty in Your Hands

20 Nil
Tell Her How It Is
Never Make You Cry
It’s a Lie
Not the Way to Go

Keep it Cool
Can’t Find Love
Fast Talking Slow Walking
Every Time I Break Her Heart
Dream About

Sanctuary
Desperate Man
Prairie Love
Covered in Bruises
Strictly Memphis

Notice I didn’t change the sequence of the songs and I think it works great.
I like how it starts coming (Trouble) and ends going (to Memphis). It seems to give it some sort of cohesiveness. I can’t believe so many people skip 20 Nil and Every Time I Break Her Heart. I feel they work great on this album, much like a different sounding song on Exile, the White Album, Physical Graffiti or really, any classic double LP. I think, like Mick said about Exile, this album has something for everyone and each side holds up on its own. Also, like other great double albums the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
So, there it is, the best new Stones album in a long, long time. You saw it here first.

Why does all extra bonus ectera get released in Japan?

Historically, Japan has had a problem with piracy, I believe. CD’s were expensive, so the bonus-tracks acted as an incentive for the customer to purchase the authorised release.

I don't think this is the reason. The bonus tracks are the incentive to buy the Japanese version rather than the cheaper imported US version.

The bonus tracks are the incentive to buy the
Japanese version and keep the yen in Japan ......
