I have yet to purchase this, and I'd like to, but I'm unsure which one is the one to get?? THere seems to be both a 3CD version and a 4CD version, with the latter having different versions of some songs, including I think version 7 of Undercover of the Night? Was that included in the leak dump that was done, or has that and the few other songs been added just to enhance the purchase and charge more $$$?

Appreciate the insight.

There was the original 3 CD set that was copied by other labels and, as you've already realized some copies had a "few other songs been added just to enhance the purchase and charge more $$$" (songs that were originally posted here in the Hot Stuff section by fellow members for free, it needs to be said!).

My best bet is to get the Captain Acid remaster of the original 3CD and the added tracks all from here. Physical product is largely superfluous because the original 3CD was low bitrate mp3-sourced anyway, but to each his or her own, naturally.

Last night some friends came to see me (not Rolling Stones fans) and I had one of these CDs playing in the background, someone told me what music it was because it was really cool, at which point I explained to them that it was RS, but what it was a music cd that was never officially released, they were shocked and told me it's better than most of the music out there today...

I don't recall any official comment from the band (or litigation) regarding this leak of 50 tracks a while back. Maybe I missed it? I am curious what the theories are about how these songs became available? Truly an insider or maybe the Stones themselves?

Here's the original thread about the Fully Finished Studio Outtakes, released in March 2021 - [iorr.org] .

There was no statement by the Rolling Stones about the FFSO. In the thread above, it has been discussed ad nauseam where the FFSO could come from and also if it's just 3 CDs or what 3 Volumes could mean.

That's news to me too !

As for further volumes, there was apparently a second volume that was good to go and that circulated in the "trading circles" and one member of that circle was kind enough to let us know what was on it...oddly there were lots of solo Mick piano covers of old songs in the style of the "100 years ago" that surfaced on GHS Deluxe.

I think the most plausible theory is that it is/was tracks that were considered and worked on for the bonus discs of the "deluxe" editions.

Then ho do you explain there were plenty of B2B outtakes? This album is too new to be a candidate for a 2-cd reissue.

One of the bandmembers gave a digital copy to a friend. That friend had it for years, and by erroneous information he decided to sell his copy. There are two volumes, with the size of the second volume not confirmed but about 15 tracks have leaked and are known.

The tracks are works in progress not meant for Deluxe Editions specifically.

It's also a mystery as to why/when that compilation was assembled. It would have been after 2010 since Keith's version of "One More Shot" is on the second volume.

Anyway let's hope that volume 2 comes out sooner rather than later !

I had imagined sth far more juicy ; like someone working at the Stones HQ "stealing" hundreds of outtakes or alt. versions of well-known songs and selling them 50 by 50.

I guess the "new stuff" faucet is about to be turned off for good, alas...

The human error is often prone to rejoice fans :

I’m not sure why he had them, but for whatever reason, Malcolm decided to change hotels and left his suitcase in the van. The van was broken into; the suitcase was the only thing they took.

Bob was understandably pissed and informed me that someone had just released a bootleg record with those mixes.
“Why did Dan let him have copies?” he asked.
“I don’t know,” I said. “He may not have known.”
“Doesn’t matter. It was his responsibility and this should have never happened.” He paused. “Thanks, Mark, for telling me the truth.” He walked off.
I felt terrible; I had basically ratted out Malcolm. But at the same time, I didn’t want to be yelled at for something I had nothing to do with.

and i can't possibly imagine how it could be related to deluxe album project (a deluxe grrr! anyone?) unless the rumour of mick working on a collection of 90's outtakes extends all the way to outtakes from 2012

“It still is my understanding there are two volumes: the first one is the released 3 discs, and there is a second volume of two discs.

The two discs are at least partially based around 1973 to 1975 material some of it released here on IORR (Chuck Berry No with Harvey Mandel, the new unreleased demo of Hide Your Love, Fragile), new versions of Fiji Jim, and a disc with piano demos of different tracks (Fool to Cry, Memory Motel, Time Waits For No One). The GHS Deluxe piano version is from this disc. It is unclear to me when this was recorded, but it sounds modern 1990's or even 2000's. The 2002 sessions for Don't Stop are there, as is Keith's original demo of One More Shot.
