Looks like these Japanese guys may have been keeping an eye on "Hut Stuff" ;-)

So I started listening to my one CDR compilation today (based on jahisnotdead's with a couple of changes, "Tried To Talk Her Into It" by "Still In Love" and "Not The Wait To Go" by "Trouble's a Coming") in the car and it was great for a few reasons, first it felt like having an actual new Stones CD to listen to and that's, well unusual, but also because the song order hasn't been memorized (after a while you just "know" what sounds are coming next) and some songs are not familiar enough yet to be identified immediately...took me about 15 seconds to realize the most excellent "Desperate Man" was playing ! I was like "hum, this can't be "Still in Love", or "Part of the Night", oh of course" - give it a try if you haven't yet !

Finally listened to the entire thing.

It truly is a gift to get to hear such music, and renew my appreciation and deep love (oh shit, pun!) for the band. So much good stuff.

It seems wrong to listen to them as "Fully Finished". Most of them are nearly complete with lyrics needed.

I think it's also a good lesson in record production. A lot of this stuff has fantastic energy. Pure spirit. I guess the whole point of record production is to keep the energy and not sap the life out of it. (I was just listening to the extremely lifeless 'Goddess in the Doorway' which sounds like it was mixed in chlorine.)

This "Might As Well Get Juiced" to my ears sounds like the proper way to blend the old with the new. It's fantastically sinister and menacing. "It's not the way to go" is pure joy. "Dreams to Remember" how can you not love: "My friend come along and he asks me for 10 dollars. i say: For WHAT?"

We are insanely lucky to have so much great stuff all at one time.

This has been bugging me:

Listening to 'You'd Better Stop That', in the first half of the track, I hear Jagger several times bellowing something that sounds like 'Bad sailor!'

I would love to believe that the Stones wrote and recorded a tune about an incompetent seafarer, but the chances are slim, so assuming it's not 'Bad sailor' can anyone tell what it actually is?

Indeed, "Bad Sailor" ? Isn't it just a very badly slurred "Better Stop That" ? After all he sings that in the same place later on in the song. Most of the time the singing sounds more like "sounds" than "words that make sense", like Keith on the alternate version of "Soul Survivor" on Exile Deluxe.

I also love Dreams to Remember, definitely one of the highlights.

Some sinewy, woven guitar and a drunken, unhinged Jaggs vocal, what's not to love?

I think they should "beat the boots" as Frank Zappa once put it, and just bootleg the bootleg and put it out in improved sound which should not be hard seeing as how the boot is sourced from low res mp3. Sell a million.

By the way, I was quoting from the press release above in that Jap-lish that is so famous over there.

I can relate easily with the appreciation of the physical copy, i do buy records and cds, but here what you get in those physical copies is just the same mp3 lossy sound files, not a real cd quality music
