Good choice but whatever selection you might come up with it'll still sound like a bunch of disparate tracks, from different eras with a different feel.

I'm really happy with my final collection. Sure, it would be better if all the songs had been finished, but I really enjoy the music and the performances. Mick would probably never officially release a track like "Not The Way To Go" as-is, but I just love those scratchy, hoarse vocals - I think I would like them better than some re-recorded "clean" vocals.

For me, "She's Doing Her Thing" and "Nobody's Perfect" are among the only ones that I feel would really distractingly jump out as sounding like they came from specific eras. But my ears aren't that good for most of the rest of them. Wasn't it "So Young" that was an old track? I would have never guessed it at the time.

Anyway, I don't necessarily think that the disparate nature of the tracks is that dramatic or that much of a negative. Some songs on Exile On Main Street sound rough and partially finished. I think that adds to the overall sometimes ramshackle feel of the album.

You are right in that Tattoo You is brilliant for not sounding like a pastiche of old songs, but that was a finished and officially released recording. Many of the tracks on FFSO are songs still in the early stages of writing.

Personally, I'm glad to have all these unfinished versions than nothing at all!

Nice selection, I'm going to give it a try to "mix things up" ! Oh I'm replacing "11. I Tried To Talk Her Into It" by "Still In Love" and "Not The Wait To Go" by "Trouble's a Coming" I think ;-)

I made a compilation of all the 82/83 tracks, called it Wasted Opportunity, and it sounds fantastic.

I know what you mean about the disparate nature of that list.

just got my frisco copy and its great, postcards and all. Came from Sweden and looks like Customs got into it. Glad to have been able to pick it up. Probably will not listen to it all that much because of the...flac downloads.

I love it. It might be my favorite track of all of these, even though I really love "Strictly Memphis" and "Sanctuary" and so many others. "Dreams To Remember" just has so much passion in it and builds up so well. Truly a lost gem.
