It's not, there was a listing from Sweden that sold 102 copies but they're gone and there was a guy in Italy selling them unit by unit.

yeah i saw that one a few days ago but they were sold out. I was just questioning the declarative statement made that they were all over ebay when in my experience, they were not. So I was wondering where they were hiding if I could not find them.

The more I think about it, the more likely it seems these were a semi official low res leak to pique interest in the real thing when it gets unleashed. That someone possibly high up managed to get them removed from youtube is telling. I think this is upcoming from official sources, possibly very soon, and perhaps this WAS what keef was referring to when he said material was coming soon.

Hard to believe, but getting easier, for me anyway. I mean, why would disparate material like this suddenly appear, mixed and mastered and seemingly ready for release?

Maybe there really is something to that dubious "japanese fan club" stuff?

A week or so later the Japanese Fully Finished Out-takes becomes available in extra ordinary sound quality, in extra ordinary quantity of songs and including previously unheard songs........with strong rumours of more to follow........can that really be a co-incidence?

Rumours are building that this is could be a Stones release of material, either to make way for the long awaited new album or fill a market gap because the new album is still a way off release.

I truly hope this is a sanctioned release of music and not stolen property. I as a general rule I do not knowingly purchase or own unauthorized music, movies or other copy written material. Its theft in my opinion. I'll bet the music is incredible but unless the band says it's ok, I'm leaving it alone.

I think it's pretty cool that it's hard to tell for a lot of people if Mick's vocals are new or from 1971. That wouldn't be the case with material by for instance Bob Dylan or Marianne Faithfull.

I completely respect your opinion but considering your age - and (to a slightly lesser extend) mine - you'll be dead before you're able to enjoy these fine tunes if you wait for an official release.

That's the dilemna we Stones fans have to face : wait for a band-sanctioned career retrospective or jump at bits of outtakes presented to us unofficially.

Having listened to these tracks through and through twice now, I gotta say I really enjoy them. I retract my previous statement that most of them sound unfinished, because a lot of them really are finished songs, especially a lot of the post 1978 ones, even if many of them sound a little too generic for my tastes.

I did try to arrange the songs in chronological order (based on BlueTurns2Grey's excellent archeology thread), which makes for a more consistent flow, but on the other hand the long 1978–83 period gets unbearably repetitive, IMHO.

On the other hand, the stuff from '97 is suprisingly good and makes for a great little outtakes album in itself (minus the terrible "20 Nil"). The '73–74 period is also lovely of course, even though I've heard all those songs before (except the IORR demo).

The tracks from '67–71 all feel oddly out of place because they're so few and different from the rest, like crumbs left over from deluxe albums or old bootlegs...
