I still don't know how to post vids on here, but yeah, I love his slinky, liquid slide on this. Equally good is his rusted, electric slide version of the same song from the On Air set.

Shortly before they enter the stage at Münchens Cirkus Krone,
14.9.1965. Surrounded by police Brian smokes, the sign on the
wall reads: "Rauchen polizeilich verboten"
(Smoking prohibited by the police) >grinning smiley<

A true genius and part of the myth of this band.

No Jones No Stones. Simple as that. He certainly had a flawed character, but he must never be airbrushed from the history of the band because without him, there would have been no history.

RIP. He’s now been dead for nearly twice as long as he was alive!

Dead? As long as the Rolling Stones are rolling (and even long after that) Brian will be alive in the minds of many (just like Ian and Nicky ..). No worries, Rockman would say winking smiley

In memoriam Brian Jones, who corrected a spelling mistake in his Proust questionnaire ("Abbhor?"), I'd like to point out that "memoriam" is written with an "a" between "i" and "m" and is therefore spelled "memoriam".

Very well!

I looked up the Track talk for this song in advance, both the opening post and the following posts, and found nothing in that thread like what you now express, not even by you.

Brian: lead- and slide guitar, Keith: rhythm guitar, Mick: blues harp

That isn't slide guitar, it's Keith playing on 3rd string and using whammy bar. The final note is open 3rd string. It's a technique Keith used on a few songs recorded during this period. Keith also plays the main guitar.

In a rare outing of the song live on Ready Steady Go Keith played both parts. Brian played a part that is not on the studio recording.

During their 2nd US tour Brian's behaviour and health seemingly affected 2 sessions at RCA and Chess, which resulted in him not playing or only contributing minimally. Bob Bonis took many photographs at the RCA session and Brian isn't shown in any of them. Various songs recorded at these sessions are without parts Brian would play live. Brian usually playing live what he had played in studio.

"He was certainly ill all right, but he didn't do anything to help himself, he aggravated it by taking too much of something, and generally behaved very stupidly. I tell you what, he nearly got hoofed out there and then. He hadn't really contributed anything on those record dates. He was either stoned or pissed or just sick, and they got fed up with him." - Ian Stewart

That's because I only relatively recently found various musical and photographic evidence and quotes that casts doubt on Brian being fully involved in the 2 recording sessions they held during their 2nd US tour.

Brian never played lead, unless it was slide guitar - and on this track there's no slide.
