After only recently it had been reported that a bridge in the city of The Hague would be named after the band, polititians now proposed to also erect a monument for Golden Earring in their hometown.

Ah, mannn.. I remember where I was when I heard my first Stones song AND when I heard my first Golden Earring tune: hammering away in a carpentry shop at City College in L.A. with the radio cranked and Radar Love came on, I immediately wanted to know who this was

One of my favorite bands. Saw them 10 times or so. Very very very good.

I never was a big fan of The Golden Earring or other Dutch bands like Kane, Di-Rect, Kensington, Handsome Poets etc etc.

BUT I always have the greatest respect for The Golden Earring for what they have achieved in music history. Very sad news about the guitar player.

Maybe try Brainbox and/or Cuby and the Blizzards?

The video for 'Twilight Zone' was one of the first I remember seeing on VH1's Totally 80s show. Having said that, I was born waaay after their heyday. Still, it's surprising to see they still were around.

This one bums me out the most this week only because they were one of the reasons I got my first passport in 2019 but never got a chance.

I saw Golden Earring open for Bob Marley way back when , and I couldn't believe it when at the end of Radar Love (the closer, predictably), the drummer did a standing jump over the drum kit, no run up or anything, and stuck the landing. He must have had titanium thighs. They were terrific, anyway. (So was Marley.)

one of my earliest clear memories is driving thru a snow covered tacoma, wa looking at the tacoma dome and singing along to radar love on the radio

i must have have been 4 or 5 so this would have been 1995-1996
