A great read. One of my fave singers from my teen years forward. Like many, I Left My Heart in San Francisco was the first song by him that grabbed me. Reading this made me think of a number of aging bands and performers and we who have grown up listening to them to this day.

This is so sad but at 94 he has had an amazing career. People are just living longer

In 1981, my wife and I took in a long weekend in NYC, including a Yankee game, show, and more. After the game, we went down to the Bottom Line in the Village to see Phil Woods and Gary Burton. There was Tony, who signed my game program and was just extremely nice. A great talent and a gentleman.

Sad news, but it's been over three years since even Yoko Ono got dementia.

According to friend Elliott Mintz (from 2020):

“Sean [Ono’s son with John Lennon] is her best friend….She’s definitely slowed down, like anyone at that age, but she is as sharp as she once was”, Mintz said.

I took my mum to see him at Manchester bridge water hall in 2010, he was in his early 80s at the time and was fabulous. Also sang briefly with no amplification to demonstrate the acoustics of the venue
