Hello I am thinking of upgrading from an SL 230 to the SL 1200 MkII turn table. I was reading some web reviews. Is this player as good as they say. The guy is looking $400 for it & it looks in decent shape. Figured I would ask on here as I know there is some tech savvy people on iorr. Thanks

It is the DJs standard, the "ones and twos". Get it. 400 isnt a bad price. I have been running 2 for a number of years now, technically 1210s I think which has something to do with auto shut off I think, been a long time since I checked the stats.

I've got the Mark I which I love, and I would say $400 is a very decent price for the Mark II. (Assuming it's in good shape.)

Bought my Technics new in the mid 1980's it's got the SL-J110R turntable great stereo and turntable, still got it and in mint condition.

I would check where it's been used. If it's been hammered in a club over the years, give it a swerve.

I think it just depends on how much you can spend.
A new turntable from Technics should be decent in any respect, but the SL-1200 are great.

It´s the Mercedes for DJ`s. The best DJ-Friend since 40 years. And its a good price. You won't regret it. No other record player has his starting-speed. No DJ-record player this weight. When I'm DJ-ing for friends & guests I jump between two CD-Players and the SL 1200 MkII. Always thought about getting a secon one - but don't know where tp place it in my packed Hifi-closet.
Anyway: Go for it. It will make you happy.
