One of the best, both on and off the field. Saw him play with Milwaukee in the early Sixties and with a different Milwaukee team in the Seventies. Wonderful gentleman.

He had an older brother that played with him for a few years, also on the Braves, but he died a long time ago, from what I recall. Tommy Aaron ... he never really had a significant impact like his brother.

Felipe Alou of the famous Alou family (at least 3 brothers played in the majors) was also on those Braves teams of the late 60s - early 70s.

The team has also lost Phil Niekro and Braves announcer and Dodger great Don Sutton recently.

Hank and Tommy still hold the record for most home runs by two brothers. Of course, Hank did the heavy lifting with 755 dingers, while Tommy chipped in a lusty 13 round trippers.

Yes! Felipe, Matty and Jesus Alou. They actually all started their careers w/ SF Giants, and once they all played at the same time in all 3 Outfield positions.

Moises Alou was a great player too, he was the son of one of them, maybe of Jesus.

I am a Milwaukee born kid. I was too young to remember our Braves. I remember Hammerin Hank as force in Atlanta from the lates 60's to early 70's. Then we got our wish and Hank came back to Milwaukee and finished his career. He was REVERED in Milwaukee. He was class and dignity. CUT through all racial barriers and was loved by all. A true loss to the human race.

Sad day for baseball and for what is good in this world.

For those of us living in Atlanta in the early to mid 70s, there wasn't a whole lot to get excited about when it came to the Braves.

But we DID have Hank Aaron.

Dang, what a terrible year for baseball. Hank, Don Sutton, Phil Niekro, Joe Morgan, Tom Seaver, Whitey Ford, Lou Brock, Al Kaline.....

RIP, gentlemen, and thank you.
