From Steve Conte's Facebook page:

It's sad to say goodbye forever to my good friend & guitar partner-in-crime, Sylvain Sylvain, founder of the New York Dolls.

Gutted. I miss you already Syl...see you on the other side.
RIP Sylvain Sylvain Mizrahi (1951-2021)

RIP Sylvain Sylvain

He made a few great solo albums. I loved his song "Teenage News".

I'm very saddened to hear this. LUV Sylvain & the NYD. He had been battling cancer for some time. Hope Syl is rocking in heaven tonight with Johnny, Arthur, Jerry & Billy. Condolences to his family and many friends & fans around the world. I'm going to crank up "Trash" now - I know that will lift my spirits thumbs up

RIP Sylvain. I met Sylvain once in London, England in 1987. He was playing at the legendary Marquee club on Wardour street. I believe he was touring with the Criminals. I really liked his first record "Teenage News". After the show, I don't know how but I end up backstage. The backstage at the Marquee was very small(I remember thinking about the stones having probably stood right there). I spoke with Sylvain. He was very friendly and he spoke french fluently. He told me he lived in Paris when he was a kid. He invited me to a party but my friends dissuaded me to go. Great guy.
Rockandroll,

Very sad. Saw him with the Dolls and solo (was walking with a stick the last time). David Johansen is now the last doll standing.

I saw him with the New York Dolls in Paris in 2006 and 2011. Great memories. Also remenber him playing occassionaly with Johnny Thunders at the Gibus club in the mid eighties.

Only David Johansen is left alive.

Personality Crisis live on Midnight Special is
Their most crystalline perfect moments I believe.
The Lyrics STILL just knock me out.
Deadly.
A friend of a friend of a friend
And all that..
The commentary on celebrity and television etc...

I dunno about most of the rest of the Dolls but that's slam damn unbeatable perfect for me.
RIP wild boys. Johnny Thunders too.

Met him, Jerry and Johnny on the "Revenge tour" 1984. Backstage. Johnny Thunders did the swedish "folk parks". They were all very kind - signed t-shirts, a drumstick to the west and a hug to the east! A nice talk in the swedish night...A memory I never forget.

Slightly weird that Syl's death made BBC Radio 4 news today - never thought I would hear Personality Crisis on the 10pm news!

Sylvain organized a great listening party on the NY Dolls FB page every week. Great rock'n'roll and some of the finest 50s through 70s songs. Loved the Dolls although I've never seen them play live.

RIP Sylvain and thank you for the great musical moments.
