OT: Best Albums of 2020
Posted by: Bastion ()
Date: December 11, 2020 23:23

Well to say 'what a year' would be an understatement. I'm sure a lot of us were initially drawn to our comfort albums... but as the year has unfolded, there's been a very steady and wonderful stream of brilliant music released.

Let's say:

Top 10-20 in no order, with your Number #1 album...and a handful of mentions?

I'd like to see what everyone enjoyed this year. Let's go smiling smiley

Great choices Bastion! I especially love Nicolas Jaar's and Thundercat's new ones. My only concert this year was Nicolas Jaar at the Tones on the Stones festival where he played a beautiful piece together with a cellist.

One of my favorite albums this year would also have to be Gorillaz' Song Machine.

Great choices WorriedAboutYou.

I've only very recently (unashamedly) discovered The National, so have listened a couple of times to Matt Berninger's record. The title track was great for sure, so will be diving back in.

Lucinda Williams- Good Ghosts Better Angels tops my list.

Sticking with the Ghost theme, and while not an album, Living In A Ghost Town gets an honorable mention. Just listened to it on blast after not listening to it in a bit, and loved it.
Followed by Scarlet, these two make my top five individual songs of the year.

That sounds great. I've only seen Nico once - at Field Day a few years ago. He played a set in-between Nina Kraviz, Moderat, Jon Hopkins and Aphex Twin.

I imagine the shows we saw were wildly different!

Wonderful musician - and a new Darkside track released the other day! smoking smiley

The GHS bonus disc wins it for me, especially the four first songs, with a special mention to the 5th, (the instrumental Mr D).

I quite enjoyed that as well. Probably my favourite overall of all the deluxe releases...though PMS and all of Some Girls Deluxe pretty close.
