I just hope it's not gonna be the same sensationalism most of viewers have already heard of from some writers and documentaries. Hope they're gonna focus on trying to be FAIR to all the members involved, especially portraying relationships between Mick and Keith and Brian. Hope they are going to do deep research. Hope no "Anita and Marianne made the Stones who they are" fantasies. Hope not much dirt.
Am I asking too much ain't I?

If you play Bill Wyman you don't get a single line!

That is way too funny, I laughed out loud!

Ehhhhhh, nah, I'll not be watching. How awful. They won't release some of their own material but a TV show to be made? What, is ABKCO gonna open up the masters so there is a show dedicated to how they recorded the coins on the piano strings for 2000 Light Years in the studio?

THAT might be interesting.

That sounds very promising. The casting for The Crown was excellent, so if the casting of this series is going to be just as good, it's going to be a lot of fun.

Really? I had to stop watching after the first two episodes because the fictional Princess Elizabeth was a dull, trembling person, as was Prince Philip. The young fictional Elizabeth is a pale, insecure ‚nobody‘. In reality he had been a dashing young man, and you can still see on movies and pictures why the Princess fell in love with him. And as for herself she was raised to be the heiress to the throne and to a worldwide Empire(!) from the age of 10 years on so she was used to public appearances and to meeting important people. She was surrounded by lots and lots of staff so she did not have to bother about organizational issues. In her meetings with Prime Minister Winston Churchill she certainly did not behave against him like she was a little peasant girl as depicted in the movies. And she knew much about all the countries of the countries of the Commoinwealth which were not Independent at the time. For me sometimes it felt as if you were watching a series about a psychiatric hospital rather than about one of the most wealthy families on the planet.

If you compare the series with the original movies from the 1950s you see that the series has absolutely nothing to do with reality at all. There can be no doubt that Princess Elizabeth and Prince Philip were very much attached to each other when they got married, and you do not have to be a romantic to see that. The worst thing about the series are the depressing sets and any lack of humour, and although I do not know the Queen in person I think that she and Prince Philip do have a great sense of humour to this day.

But it's the same as with Mick and Keith: You cannot be close together over a period aof decades without ups and downs. In both cases I do believe that they know what they have in each other even though not everything felt like heaven. If the Queen still should watch ‚The Crown‘ she could only do so if she knows that the series has almost nothing to do with her at all. I am still very much surprised that it was and is such a huge success. So if the series about the early Rolling Stones will be as dark and dull as the ‚Crown‘ series, you can forget it. Even if you have to dramatize and condense the true facts a series should bring out the optimistic and funny sides as well.

I once talked to an uncle of mine who was born in 1930, and I said to him: It must have been pretty hard living in post-war Germany when in the middle class money was short and you had to live in old, uncomfortable houses. He replied: But don’t forget, for us it went steadily up, contrary tot he next generation.

The Rolling Stones are getting their own TV series

According to Hollywood Reporter, FX is preparing a new scripted TV series about The Rolling Stones. Nick Hornby, the author of the acclaimed novel High Fidelity is to write the script, while Left Bank, the production company behind Netflix’s House of Windsor drama The Crown, will produce it. FX has ordered two seasons of the yet-to-be-titled show, which will cover the period from the band’s founding through 1972.

FX CEO John Landgraf noted the series would take place from the band’s formation in the early 1960s through 1972.

Here we come
Walking down the street
Get the funniest looks from
All the exiles on Street

Hey hey we're the Stones boys
Come and come and come and watch us slay
We're the old generation
Sanitized for pay to play

Hey hey it's not Performance,
Freejack or Kelly Ned
We're too busy having Babies
And the darn things have to get fed
Hey hey we're the Stonies

Well, no more shows, no new album but a tv series.
The start of the end...
It's ok but man, what a great time it was to just go and see them performing!!!
I do have so many great memories.
And oops, that's what the tv series will be about...

Saw them in Berlin 2018, too. Great show, yes, and very cool local audience. Still I liked the exceptional Hamburg 2017 show even more.

Nick Hornby is a good writer. I would watch this series purely based on that.

Nick Hornby is terrific! High Fidelity one of my all time favorite books. All of them are good. He has a pretty new one out now too.

Good writing and direction could indeed develop something historically respectable.

One of the Beatle Bio pics had good actors...
Maybe the guy who played Lennon in that play about Brian Epstein etc....

I made Light of the idea on Auto pilot cynical because of so many burns...or mediocre stuff. I'm too picky preferring the intensity of the real people behind the characterizations.

I'd be hard pressed to get thru the Beach Boys mini series....

But it's be not for my demographic really.
Very tough personal stuff there

It might have Hit the mark with a lot of kids and brought them to the music. I dunno.

They were messy Dirty boys were they not, our ragamuffins gone to Stardom?

Let’s hope for the best. Certainly if done right it could be great. However
so many films about classic bands tend to fall short.

If this will be on Netflix it could make the Stones popular with the youth again for a few months
