Aren't there too few for filling a proper album? Maybe when you add the 1964/1965 live songs? Whenever I start driving my car the first song I put on is Route 66 (live) ... very loud. The opening 30-40 seconds always blow my mind ...

Something else, where I otherwise would have needed approximately 12 albums, not any longer with internal ranking,

instead the albums that made me a fan!

1. The German Decca compilation album of the first two EPs ( minus one song), plus a couple of singles
AROUND AND AROUND
2. THE ROLLING STONES (UK).

3. To quite some extent, but still not as much as the two first mentionned,
THE ROLLING STONES, vol 2 (UK) ( Side A better than side B )
4. The available US-version of OUT OF OUR HEADS.

5. AFTERMATH (UK) (obviously great).

In addition, the magical singles with both their A- and B-sides from, although a couple for me on an album, from "The Last Time" / "Play with Fire" and upwards made an impact on me as much as the albums,

but then came the very decisive album in making me a fan in a drawn out process over a couple of years, by showing me that the Rolling Stones were able to appeal to me in various more ways than one or two, consequently for me personally the highly important album.

6. BETWEEN THE BUTTONS (UK)

Then I was even more ready than before for the continuation!

That's a great relief ... I'm not alone spinning smiley sticking its tongue out

Count me in, and we're already three!

I've always had the feeling that a lot of older fans are not on boards like these anymore...

If I was going to include Live albums, I'd throw in Brussels and something I presume will be a favourite, El Mocambo.

And if I were going to include greatest hits, GRRR! the 80 track version would cover off most of the material and Rolled Gold + (the expanded edition from 2009?).

However, I'm going to stick with only STUDIO for top seven...so in no particular order:

Sticky
EOMS
LIB
Beggar's
Tattoo You
Undercover
Some Girls

My Big 7:

2. Beggar's
3. Emotional Rescue
4. Goat's Head Soup
5. Tattoo You
6. Black and Blue
7. Some Girls

The necessary premise is that if this was a dog race, you would need fotofinish to determine the first 7 and the last 7 ...

That said my 7 best are

Exile
RS, NOW (US)
Out of our heads (US)
Banquet
Undercover
Tattoo You
Black & Blue

While the 7 that made me a fan are

Rolled Gold
Still Life
Love You Live
London Years
Made in The Shade
Tattoo You
Undercover

Some Girls is overrated. But beast of burden is maybe most stonesy song ever and maybe best song ever by any band Or artist.

Not to me. Lies is one of their most underrated songs.

Mine's a little different:

Black and Blue
Made In The Shade
Hot Rocks
IORR
Some Girls
Tattoo You
Goats Head

That's the order I bought them in. Yeah, I know, but LYL and ER weren't as strong to me.

Later:

Sticky, Exile, etc. all became big parts of my life. Even Primitive Cool!

I didn't know anything about the Rolling Stones, but you couldn't miss them and the buzz they created on their 1972 tour, even as a 14-year-old. So ABKCO cashed in and released Hot Rocks. What an amazing introduction to the Rolling Stones.

So then I bought the Big Five. Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, GYYYO, Sticky Fingers and Exile on Main Street. Yes, you have to include GYYYO in that run of albums.

Then a few decent albums but not with the impact of the final biggie, Some Girls. It was such a new sound and it really resonated within me just like the "old days." The big "come back" album. Seeing them that summer of 1978 was the most "rock and roll" experience that I ever had in my life.

The BIG SEVEN:

Hot Rocks
Beggars Banquet
Let it Bleed
GYYYO
Sticky Fingers
Exile on Main Street
Some Girls

And an honourable mention for the film Gimme Shelter. I am convinced that that movie spawned 10,000 garage bands.

The Big Seven "live inside of me," and I assume for many of you reading it's a similar thing.

My list would be almost eggzactly the same as yours, except I don't like including compilation albums. As much as I love Hot Rocks & More Hot Rocks (and even Made In the Shade), I leave them out. Someone was kind enough to share Mocambo with me before the release, and I love it so much that I will replace that in your list. My 7, in order:

Exile On Main St.
Beggars Banquet
Let it Bleed
Sticky Fingers
Some Girls
Get Your Ya Yas Out
El Mocambo / Brussels

** Edit .... remembering that Brussels is official, i added that as a tie w/ El Mocambo.
